Signed up to PlayStation Plus for a month so I could upload my save files for a few games since I reset the system and will be trading it in this coming Tuesday as I will be buying the PlayStation 5 Pro. Anyway, while not having free cloud saves sucks, there is one feature that PlayStation 5 has that I wish Microsoft would implement on Xbox which is the ability to see all of your synced cloud saves and allows you to delete them if you so choose.
You can do this, somewhat, on xbox but you have to do it game by game in the console and when you pick to delete saved data tell it to delete from cloud too.
Within the Xbox eccosystem, assume every game, since middle X360 days, that has a save state is synced to the cloud.
They do have some management of this if you’re not on your console, but it only lets you go through games played in the last 30 days. From the help article:
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/cloud-gaming/manage-storage
Haha, this is so bad.
That’s the option that says “delete everywhere” when selecting it right? This is good but I would prefer an overall list of everything I have in the Cloud so I can just go through it. It would make it easier, more convenient and you would be able to see all the cloud saves you have on one list.
Agreed. It is. But it’s just for a month and I will then cancel it. I didn’t want to risk losing my save files for Rebirth, Ronin, Stellar Blade and Astro Bot just in case there’s any DLC/expansions that require you to complete the game or reach a certain point in the story which I freaking hate.
Last generation, I had a USB flash drive that allowed me to copy the save files over but Sony obviously eliminated that.
Out of curiosity, what is the reason you’d delete cloud saves if the storage is not limited?
For games that I either no longer have (physical) or games that I dropped but know im never ever going back to due to not being into the game itself (Alan Wake 2) or knowing that im not completing it (Black Myth Wukong).
But you don’t have to worry about any of that in the Microsoft Eccosystem. Its as if you’ve been abused by Sony for so long that you think this is actually normal to have to deal with.
Has nothing to do with worrying or anything like that. To make it simple, if I don’t want it then I want to get rid of it. There’s nothing else to it.
But aren’t you just creating work for yourself? If the storage is free and unlimited why would you even bother?
What if they decide to give out the game for free in a few years and you want to replay it, or a sequel comes out that uses your original save?
You gotta know Pete by now lol
I hope Subnautica 2 has a vr mode. That would be enough for me to get a vr2
For games that I have completed, if I wanted to replay it (like I have done with AC Origins/Odyssey), I would simply start from scratch as if I was playing it for the first time so I wouldn’t need the save file.
If the game is given out for free (I’ll use Gears Tactics as the example), it won’t matter because if I completed it, it’s highly unlikely that it won’t be replayed and if it is, I would just start fresh. Some games like Gears Tactics, I have ZERO interest in replaying. I liked and enjoyed the game but doing those mandatory side missions again? Hell no.
If I haven’t completed a game or it’s a game that has DLC/expansions (Remnant 2/Dead Island 2 for example), then I keep the save files intact until I complete them.
By sequel, you mean something like I think Dragon Age or The Witcher 3 that uses your decisions/choices from the previous games? If so, this is actually a fun fact, I have never had a game in which the sequel had an option to carry over your choices/decisions from the previous game. I either didn’t play the previous game or didn’t care to do so.
I am a minimalist so that perhaps could have something to do with this. I just hate having extra shit, clutter, whatever, etc. lol
But it doesn’t matter, all I was saying was that I wish it was a list because being able to see all my cloud saves on PS5 and scroll down list is easier, simpler and better than me having to go through each individual game on Xbox. However, I will say that obviously having free cloud saves on Xbox trumps the list that’s on PS5.
Hahahahaha. Sometimes, I feel like only pg2g and perhaps Mort get me.
I just restarted FF7 Remake on PS5 (it was cool of them to offer the free upgrade btw). I was a little bit into the game on PS4 already but not subbing to Plus just to transfer a save. Probably will do the same with Horizon Zero Dawn.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was great on PS4 Pro when I played it at launch but it’s better on PlayStation 5 because all the technical/visual issues the game had are gone and it’s 60FPS.
If I only had a few hours in the games I signed up to Plus for, I wouldn’t have bothered but I completed Astro Bot, Rise of the Ronin, Spider Man 2 and got the platinum trophy in Stellar Blade so spending the $10 for a month was worth it so when I get the Pro in two weeks, I can just download the save files from the Cloud and then cancel the PS Plus subscription.
If you haven’t played HZD all that much either, upgrading to the PS5 remastered edition for $10 is a good decision. Even though you’re not but if you were going to spend $10 on Plus to upload the saves, that $10 would be better spent on upgrading the game and starting a new play-through.
Got a used PS5 Slim from my brother as a gift, and it didn’t include the plastic triangles to sit the console sideways and Sony doesn’t sell them separately. So I bought something from Amazon which is a completely different style of stand and hopefully it’s okay. It sits underneath the plastic shell so it’s not really connected to the base unit which is concerning, because there might be some flex on the plastic shell.
All this after I was eyeing the 30th anniversary model. So I’m grateful for the gift but I would really like to see if I could buy the 30th anniversary shells separately. Whether it’s from Sony or a third party mimicking it. And then maybe I can pick up a 30th anniversary controller as my second controller.
I’ll be redoing my network here so it’s wired so I can transfer my PS4 stuff onto it, and then I’ll jump in and figure out what games I want for it. GT7 and Astro are my killer apps for it and I got GT7.
All that said, what games should I check out? I will play my PS4 backlog on it (I still haven’t started Spider-Man, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, and Last of Us 2). Anything else? I’m thinking FF16 and 7 Remake. Also I want to play Spider-Man with the original Peter Parker I will get that on the PS5 right? Or should I beat it on my PS4 with the original Peter?
So long as you don’t buy and play Spider-Man Remastered, You should be okay to finish SpiderMan with the OG SpiderMan on your PS5. It’ll just be the PS4 version with no more bells/whistles
As far as I know, the only way that you can play as the original Peter Parker is if you own the disc version and you don’t update it. I’m pretty certain that Sony either put the new actor in the original game via patch or only sell the remastered version which has the current actor who plays Peter Parker.
As far as games go, I recommend the following -
- Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy
- The Last of Us 1 and 2
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- God of War 2018
- Spider Man 2018
- Days Gone
- Spider Man: Miles Morales
- Spider Man 2
- Horizon Forbidden West
- God of War Ragnarok
- Ratchet & Clank 2016
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth
That was essentially the list I had in my head that I wanted to check out so it’s great to see a confirmation. The other one I just thought of was Returnal, I can’t believe I forgot that but it’s right up my alley.
I don’t know if Wip3out got a 4K update but if so I’ll be downloading that again for sure.
If SF5 has a 4K update I’ll be downloading that as well.
Oh, and if I go the PS4 to PS5 migration it doesn’t affect my games on the PS4, does it? I still have P.T. installed and I don’t want to lose that.
Returnal is really good based on the few hours I played. The gunplay/shooting mechanics and fast paced action is great. I’m horrible at rogue like games so I didn’t make it far at all. One run I had an awesome assault rifle and was very happy, took damage, when into a room where you lay down on a table and it gives you back your health but as soon as I stood up, two flying enemies appeared in the room and took away half my health that I just got back. I died soon after because a bigger enemy jumped/landed on me from behind that was basically a blindside attack. I dropped the game right there and have never gone back to it and never will. Would have preferred if Housemarque had made it a straight forward third person shooter. Really hoping their next game is not a rogue like or souls like game.
Can’t comment on the migration option as I never did that. I don’t think it will screw anything up but you may want to research that more.
Not sure the Pro is selling that well in the UK - just had Argos advertise it to me (I thought it was a deal on the Slim so hit it as partner may need a replacement soon).
For context, Argos were the ones who had to cancel pre-orders because they hadn’t limited them enough - and promised to rectify if they got more stock.
It appears now they’ve not only had enough to fulfil all pre-orders and ones they’d cancelled who still wanted it, but enough to start taking orders again and actually pay to advertise it…
