PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Im contemplating it…I already have Silent Hill 2 pre-ordered… and was planning on playing it for spooky season…but also feel like I should capitalize on it while I can still maximize its value.

The PS5 Pro with a disc drive and stand (lol) will cost about $1200 here.

How about… fuck off lol.

Remember, Play has no Limits.

Or whatever the fuck their new slogan is, lol.

Yup, it shows ignorant Mike Ybarra comments are. Also, I noticed game stores have lowered the price value of PS5 trade in. I think they know some are desperate to upgrade

It’s possible someone would miss out on the initial stock (if it sells out / is grabbed by scalpers) before they could actually get a trade-in anyway - as Sony are going to make PS Direct the only pre-order place for 2 weeks:

Play it on your PC :stuck_out_tongue:

My favorite of the defense force talking points is “It’s optional.” As if that’s some rhetorical knockout punch that ends discussion.

Like… yeah. This is video games. All of it is optional. That doesn’t mean the price of this particular product is justified or makes sense for people compared to the value on offer.

The console + disc reader + stand is 950 euros in western Europe.

FYI back in 2020 the base machine (the version which came with a stand and disc reader) was 500 euros.

I mean… who are they kidding? The whole concept of a ‘premium’ console is so ridiculous anyway. That’s because the PS5 four years ago… was essentially the ‘premium experience’ versus the PS4 Pro (definitely considering cross gen lasted years and the best versions of PlayStation games were the PS5 versions).

Point being there are no more console generations, there’s just iterative hardware. Every new system is now the ‘premium’ versus the last one. The only difference here is the cost has nearly doubled over the past 4 years… whilst wages have obviously not.

This isn’t going anywhere good (I think we’re looking at 800 euros as the new baseline for a discless PlayStation console next gen, at the very least).

Today’s reaction “they did it because they have no competition” essentially hand-waving it away as other’s problems for “letting” Sony do this.

If only Nintendo has Switch 2 or whatever the successor is ready to not only announce but price tag it. That would be one for the ages.

Plus even if it was at all true, much of the gaming media and the Sony fanboys have been actively wishing for (and in the media’s case, briefing in favour of) Xbox leaving the market.

Surprising they now care about a level playing field and healthy competition after crapping on every move Xbox makes and putting bias in every piece of news

This is hilarious…the Cult is still unwavering and loyal AF!

Eh, they got what they wished for when the media was trying to do it’s best to give Xbox a hard time. It feels poetic seeing them react to this when they had a major contribution to this climate

I genuinely hope that the reason these disc drives are selling (apparently) crazy fast is because of Scalpers. Because if not, how tf are normal customers ok with that price?

I can’t imagine that tons of people are that desperate for RT with better visuals. Right? Then again, if they already have a PS5 and they can get a good price for it…

We have to remember there was a good amount of people buying scalper priced PS5s at launch. I know demand is different since we’re no longer in a pandemic, but it wouldn’t shock me to see them selling out. Also, I doubt they had many in stock tbh

There will always be a hardcore audience for this stuff, they’d be willing to pay basically any price, although in this case I do think a lot of it is scalpers, yes

I fully expect the Pro to sell out when it launches whether its the hardcore or scalpers but beyond that, I think it;s going to struggle hard

PS4 Pro was half the price and still only sold like 13% of total ps4 sales

It will be even harder for PS5 pro for various reasons beyond just the horrendous price

It makes me wonder if it will drop in price and if so when and how significant? Depending on how much it goes down I might grab one eventually. With all the good stuff in backlog and coming out for Xbox I don’t even need a PS5 so badly.

Thought of sharing this. He got the same feeling that I had. I also like his input on how this is more catering to content creator, so by default, he will get it but if he was a consumer, hard pass.
