This meme, lmao.
Appears PS sites are trying to take positives from the Digital Foundry chat - and the PS Defence Force are being twats in the comments now they’ve regrouped…
One commentator makes a good point when someone says it’s cheap compared to a PC - you don’t have to pay for multiplayer on PC (plus the games are often cheaper as less platform licencing to pay) so if you take say 5 to 7 years of PS Plus into account (a generation) you can easily build a similar or better PC for the Pro money that can do a lot more…
The dislike add on isn’t reliable but, I guess it at least shows people aren’t happy about the current pricing.
Just my personal take: I bought a PS5 but I might have been better served just getting a Series S instead. The only games I have for it are Gran Turismo 7, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Final Fantasy XVI. The first two I could have just kept playing on PS4 and now it looks like FF16 is coming to Xbox anyway.
I play a lot of FF14 on it but that’s literally just because it’s in a different room than the Series X and sometimes the kids are using the Xbox.
Ask me again after the next Naughty Dog game comes out and I’ll have a different answer. But for right now there’s nothing really compelling for me on PS5 that doesn’t also exist somewhere else.

It’s cool. Everyone will be talking about how resolution is priority numero uno again.
One of the most interesting bits from that presentation was Mark Cerny saying that 75% of gamers opt for performance modes over resolution modes. 60 FPS enjoyers vindicated!
My questions about this stat was how many games default to performance mode? I can’t see most normal users digging through the menus to change the setting. So how much of that 75% is people just booting up a game and playing because that is what normal people do.
Good question. I feel like anecdotally, most games default to fidelity mode and I have to go into the menus to set it to performance. I don’t know for sure though.
This is the biggest issue with the $700 price tag. It puts it square in the “should I get a PC instead” conversation. At $500, it’s difficult to make the argument, even if over time it would be cheaper to own a PC. However, at $700, even if you add a few hundred more to a PC budget, you can make up for the difference relatively quickly with:
- Free online and cloud saves
- Free games from Epic Games Store (and occasionally GOG and Steam)
- Cheap games from key sites like GMG, Humble Bundle, etc.
- Access to multiple game subscription services (Game Pass, Ubisoft+, EA Play (the Pro tier offers day one games), Humble Choice, Amazon Prime Gaming, etc.)
- Access to literally decades worth of games
- The ability to use whatever controllers/peripherals you want.
Honestly, I think they’re basing it off PS first party games. I think most of their games have it defaulted. However, interesting to see if this is the case becuase I prefer 60fps over 30
What is the default mode of games? I’m willing to say a large majority of gamers dont change the default settings at all.
Edit: I see question was already asked.
Mike Ybarra is such an asshole lol . I can see why they didn’t want to keep him. Plus he’s saying ignorant things
Also, this guy is insane because gamestop is not even giving that much for base ps5. Here in Canada they want to only $350 for PS5. So that would result in PS5 Pro being price at $735CDN lol

He is stuck in the past, putting the console as the only way to play in the ecosystem, and ignoring things like mobile and PC. Microsoft has evolved past that now, but Mike Ybarra still thinks we are in the 360/PS3 era. Sony could have many more ways to make money beyond making their existing player-base pay even more.
He engages with TimDog. That’s enough to ignore him forever.
He is acting like a bitter ex.
Scalpers have stolen disk drive from others. They’re doomed.
That is all they are gonna give you if you trade it in? Jesus.
214.50 dollars tops. According to Fritanga the day before the reveal it was 385. Bunch of criminals, wow.
When I check it (Ohio USA), store credit is $357.50 for a OG digital edition.
That is not bad. Are you gonna do it? I probably would have if I had a PS5, but since I don’t have one, it’s a huge no go.
