PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Yea this month looks really interesting with this Pro, the Switch 2?, a State of Play and TGS, it’s packed.

Going to miss the hardware comparisons tho.

Price expectations? Saying 599 for a digital Pro, and no disc version being announced. Think that’s the “fair” or expectable price, 549 would make it look good and anything over 600 for a digital Pro would be really bad.

I wonder what made up terms Cerny can come up with this time! No doubt he will brainwash a certain group of people into thinking it’s not possible on PC or anywhere else!

My best guess is $600 for digital, $700 for disc version - hopefully £549 and £649 in the UK.

Although I’d not be surprised if it’s $100/£100 higher on both.

If it’s under £600 I might bite even though I don’t think there’s much I want to play outside of perhaps improving my old PS4 games and maybe Spider Man 2.

I generally get both each gen but have been holding out as haven’t liked Sony’s behaviour (didn’t like them much last gen either but had to get it to play with friends as many swapped over).

Would likely then be a bore in PS forums complaining about their base PS5s holding back my Pro to get some revenge for all the Series S slander :stuck_out_tongue: /s

Price is the only factor that will be decisive. It could do 8K 60 FPS, if it’s more than 650€, it will be a hard sell imo.

Im betting on 699€ because of the price increase of the base model. If it’s less than that, it might interest me.

Wasn’t that Ratchet and Clank?

Ironically I think the most impressive level designs were back in titles on the X360!

a 4090 can’t do 8k/60fps without faking it

Well SSDs are yesterday’s jam! now it’s all about the PSSR and the RT Acceleration! now these will change videogame development (no more FSR2!) and will also bring many more unique and fresh gameplay ideas to the (correctly illuminated!) table!

BTW seeing how expensive everything playstation related is here in Europe it’ll be really interesting to see how they will price the PS5 Pro here.

9 minutes is incredibly short, wtf.

Not that I’m super interested in hearing Cerny talk much longer than that to be honest. I’m already prepared for articles of hype about how it does things that haven’t been done before.

I don’t care for any of that. Just the price, and how big the real difference will be with games.

I wonder if they actually manage to get it cheaper than in US, pre-VAT.

I would be far more interested in the short term if there was anything on the immediate horizon to be excited about software wise.

I already bought Silent Hill 2, but I dont need a $600 upgrade just to play a Bloober Team game.

Honestly, probably not too much to talk about beside their equivalent to DLSS for upscaled 4K and frame generation and why they went that route.

$600 digital model only. $700 if you buy the disc drive add-on that’s already available which I do believe will be compatible with the PS5 Pro.

Still playing Astro Bot. 14 hours in. Three worlds completed 100%. And the last one I did, oh man! This game truly gets better and better as you play through it. The platforming also gets more challenging. And boss fights are superb!!

Sadly, I won’t be able to get back to playing until Friday as im working the next three days but looking forward to getting back to Astro Bot.

He’ll introduce Rapid Restart, the trailblazing evolution of Activity Cards to get you playing your games quicker from the exact point you left off.

They’ll probably show more at TGS I guess.

I’m currently most of the way through the sixth galaxy. 100% on many/most levels. Still need to clean up a few bots/puzzle pieces etc. but figured I’d leave some so I have an excuse to go back to levels.

Incredible game. Probably the best I’ve played this year. Or ever really.

Allegedly they have different side-panel designs, not sure if the PS5-style side-panel will work. Hopefully we find out the details tomorrow. So many different ways they can do this.

If there was one that was a bland VCR style rectangle that is PS1 grey I would buy it instantly.

Agree with the price. But not releasing a disc version would be the dumbest thing Sony could do.

They’ll likely struggle to sell any meaningful numbers to the casual crowd. No disc drive would turn off most of the hardcore fans as well, since a lot of them are physical game collectors. Who would be left to buy this thing?

At the very least, that separate disc drive better be compatible.

Something cool like that I’d go for too honestly. Proper retro vibe on the design, powerful af inside.

This router/air purifier design ain’t it.
