Astro Bot looks a delight and is making me want to pick up a PS5 in some form, later this year.

Can’t wait to play it.

Game of life.

10 points too high. But there’s no accounting for taste.

I need to play this myself to see if I’d give it that high of praise as well. Seeing media calling it on par with a 3D Mario, yeah, we’ll see. I have no doubts it’s a great game but they do like to exeggerate.

Or not.

I hope everyone who’s going to play it has fun! I unfortunately have not cared for platformers since Mario 64.

This reminds me that I still need to try the Astro Bot game that came on my PS5.

The great reviews make me genuinely curious, is this game going to sell well, or is it going to be one of those curios like Deathloop or Hi-Fi Rush that are critic darlings but don’t really blow up in the mainstream.

I preordered it. Most definitely going to be in my top ten.

Not too much longer to wait :slightly_smiling_face: Glad to see others are hyped for it as well.

Completely agree. Will download the game later tonight along with Astro’s Playroom (will play this first tomorrow) and then start Astro Bot on Sunday. Also have to download Black Myth Wukong (18m in sales in two weeks on two platforms is fucking nuts) as September will be PlayStation 5 month for me until Shattered Space.

2024 in general for PlayStation 5 has been great to excellent for me.

  • Rise of the Ronin (8.0/10, great game in of itself but four years after Tsushima, it’s not at that level)
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (9.0/10, excellent action JRPG and to think, I hated the original 1997 release but love Remake and Rebirth)
  • Stellar Blade (9.0/10, my current game of the year, Shift Up hit a home run with their first console game, only major negative for me were the two open areas being very similar but loved the game overall so much that I platinumed it which I never do, lol)
  • Black Myth Wukong (will play this after Astro Bot and hyped to do so especially since you don’t lose anything when you die like in souls games so that makes me very happy)
  • Astro Bot (95 on Open Critic with 78 reviews last I checked is just insane. Wasn’t expecting this game at all in general so this is a very pleasant surprise)

Played around 5 hours of Helldivers 2 and that’s pretty damn good as well but I know I will never ever complete it solo so I dropped it. Played Granblue Fantasy Relink which is a great JRPG in it’s own right and may go back to it at some point. Not realy into the Lego Horizon Adventure game anymore but Ys X: Nordics looks good for an AA JRPG and I have mild interest Reynatis later this month.

Worse part of it all is that there’s too many freaking games in the last four months of the year and just not enough time to play them all. :sob:

Astro Bot is the shit. Right now it’s Astro Bot and Shadow of the Erdtree for best things I’ve played thus far.

I’ve only finished a single galaxy, so I’m not going to anoint it the GOAT or anything at this point, but holy shit is that game good. So far, its every bit as good as the reviews suggest. If it keeps up this quality, variety, and creativity throughout, it will 100% be one of my favorite platformers ever.

I completed Astro’s Playroom a few minutes ago since I never actually played it. Really good outside of the motion controls which I don’t like in any game. Looking forward to starting Astro Bot on Sunday!!

I never want to hear “Xbox going third party wouldn’t be bad for gamers because companies like Sony are still competing for your time” ever again.

Started Astro Bot yesterday and played at least 8+ hours. Completed the first two worlds 100% and my goodness, this game is just pure happiness and joy. So damn relaxing yet at times challenging. Looks great, plays great and best of all for me, the motion controls can be turned off which I did instantly.

They raised the price of controller and then announce this. Timing.

Pro announcement then? Then I guess they’ll show off some Pro-enhanced stuff at TGS…

Always exciting to see new hardware. Surprised this is only 9 minutes long as the PS4 Pro one went for 2 hours.
