PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

it’s already publicly announced by Nintendo that it is coming to Switch. So that is highly unlikely.

Porting to Switch adds a whole new audience who may not own or play games on PS5 or Xbox.

Xbox probably just didn’t seem like as much of a value-add, since there’s a lot of overlap between the PS5 and Xbox audience and most people interested in a Horizon title probably already have a PS5 anyway.

At least that would be my guess as to their thinking.

It could end up being cross-gen and rumors have it that Switch 2 will be backwards compatible.

We’re good, it’s more this general impression I get where every move that is even in the general direction of what Xbox has done a long time ago is suddenly the same thing as what a lot of Xbox fans reacted to this year.

It’s kinda surprising they didn’t put it on PS4 considering half of their MAU are still on PS4.

Not sure what you mean? I would think it made a lot of sense to release a LEGO game like that everywhere, so no it wouldn’t “count” for me whatever that means.

Of course it is but they are going to let Xbox take all the shit first and let it kill its self before having the bollocks to do it.

If MS were smart and not impatient they’d let PlayStation suffer with their margins and stick with exclusives until PlayStation had to cave first or at least do it at the same time to avoid any brand taking the hit themselves

But instead they want it now

Gradual steps are what PS are doing now.

The platform that prioritizes their console users over everything is releasing a non-GaaS game from one of their tent pole franchises on PC and Switch Day 1. ‘It makes sense’ is not a thing that existed for Playstation, anything they did it was because they were forced to.

Probably yeah. Still doesn’t mean they are doing what Xbox is now, and that it’s the same as a lot of us reacted to with Xbox earlier this year.

I still don’t understand. It’s an excellent way to get eyes on the IP, where the real games are found on PS in the console space. Would be excellent for Halo as well.

Just remember the way people reacted when Ori went to Switch, or when As Dusk Falls went to PS and Switch. If we’re supposed to “keep that same energy”, the same freakouts and conversations need to happen (they won’t though for “reasons”). Also, this feels like a much bigger first step than what Xbox did originally since Horizon is a tentpole 1st party franchise.

Your personal feelings about it aren’t what people are referring to btw, but rather the endless cycles of doom and gloom we were all subjected to for the last few years.

Well, I find these post-reactions to the “endless cycles of doom and gloom” equally annoying. What’s the point? Baiting people?

It’s a LEGO game.

So, we should just ignore that it happened when it’s contextually relevant to the conversation?

Is it though?

Yes. You’re trying to understand why people are drawing comparisons to what MS did and why they think the reactions should be the same. If Xbox fans lost their minds over Ori and As Dusk Falls, why shouldn’t Playstation gamers (who aren’t known for being super rational) react the same way? You keep waving it away saying “It’s a LEGO game”, but I don’t see why that would matter. A 1st party property is going elsewhere.

You mean one of the biggest IP in the world? would could be the best family friendly exclusive they’ve had in… ever?

Many people have expected that Sony would follow in a similar path to Xbox, but with different timing. That includes Day 1 PC and even ports to other platforms. This is evidence that supports that.

We could easily dismiss it as being a one time thing, or it could be a sign of them testing the waters.

No, how is it relevant to start a discussion like that in this thread? Yes, I know a moderator started it, but I fail to see the point of that other than bait.

I’m not waiving it away, I’m literally stating that it would be a cool thing for Xbox IP’s too. I just don’t think launching a LEGO game on Switch is the same thing as what the “doom and gloom discussion” was about.
