PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

If it was up to me, I would be looking to sell Bungie for whatever I could get, cut my losses and move on.

I believe in that as well as other studios that were purchased during Bethesda acquisition. That and investment alas Deviation. There were many of “me too” action from Sony to respond to Xbox’s moves. From day one game pass games to multiple subscription tiers to acquisition. Hell, I’m willing to bet that this is why there’s always a “Will Xbox respond this action by Sony,” since Sony seems to answer every nook and cranny, even if it doesn’t work out well in the first place.

Outside of Bungie, I don’t see any of the other studios Sony acquired as being out of desperation. Bluepoint has worked with Sony for years so that made sense and Housemarque has worked with Sony for a decade going back to PS3 so they made even more sense. Haven/Firesprite/Firewalk I see as cheap bargains that weren’t costly and are basically low risk/high reward f they hit and if they don’t Sony will probably just cut their losses as they should.

That’s my point in a way. Remember, there was hardly any story about PS acquisition until Xbox did one with Bethesda. It’s like why start now. Not to mention, if the studios that they have been working with always make Sony’s exclusive, wouldn’t it be alright if you keep them doing the same way. It can be argued as PR stunt to us guys. Acquisition was a big topic. That’s why I saw it as “oh I can do it too” move and I don’t see it otherwise.

It’s always better to acquire the studio that you’ve been working with because you don’t want to risk losing them to someone else or things turning sour. If you own them, you control them. Besides, the acquisitions started in June 2018 for Microsoft and Sony started just over a year later with Insomniac who I still see as the best acquisition in gaming history. Seriously $230m for Insomniac? You’ve got to be shitting me!!

Sony has always been very “reactionary” to things happening in the market. From VR, Vita, Move, Eyetoy, etc… The thing is they don’t really support these moves, it’s like they just do them so they can say “look we’re doing this fad thing too!” I guess it works for them though. I suppose they don’t really put a lot of effort and money into them so no loss when they fail, and “Playstation” gets the marketing boost from it. If the thing takes off they can always just shift focus over to it after the fact.

Wasn’t both Firesprite and Firewalk basically studios formed of former Playstation Liverpool Devs?

Haven was probably the weirdest one of the studios listed here.

I think so but not 100% sure since I don’t care about either. lol

Agreed and Haven is another studio I don’t care about but since they’re doing that Fairgames live service game, it could be a cheap win or loss for Sony. Either way, worth the risk because the gains could end up being greater than the loss.

Haha. It is a heist game so it makes sense to have the $ in the title. Obviously, we haven’t seen the actual gameplay and loop yet but outside of Payday 3 which didn’t seem to set the world on fire and probably should have been delayed and the heists in GTA 5 online, Fairgame$ could end up being a sleeper hit. Characters look stupid and gimmicky but the idea and premise could be good especially in a type of game that doesn’t really exist all that much.

I really wish there was a single player heist type game like Kane & Lynch. The first half of that game was awesome. I remember scaling a building using scaffolding and smashing threw windows in the offices to rob it. Shit was great. But then the second half is a fucking disaster and I dropped it. But man, I really wish some studio would make something like that.

I have a little hope for Contraband but since that seems to be based around vehicles and co-op, it probably won’t be what im hoping for it to be.

Finally completed my backlog of spike Chunsoft games i wanted to complete. Its crazy how funny these games dialogues are!

Been thinking about playing time dilemma to complete the zero escape series but i’m not sure yet, i’ve heard its not well received compared to 999 and VLR

Played the Stellar Balde demo, and it felt good for the most part. IT feels like one of those games that will get better as you go on because your character starts off with a limited abilities, but I see gameplay improving as you gain more abilities. The game seems to rely heavily on countering. It felt about and 8/10 for me, but not a day one for me unless reviews change my mind

Played through the Stellar Blade demo twice. Looks good, audio is great and the combat is fluid, smooth and responsive. My only gripes are that I hope they increase the visibility on the item drops and add the button prompt for picking them up. Other than that, I wish I could change the special attacks using L1 to R1 or something because im always wasting them due to constantly pressing/holding L1 to block/parry and keep pressing square to attack but ends up being a special attack instead. I like all the hidden stuff you can get by climbing, going underwater, etc. Also completed the Boss Challenge which took about 8 attempts or so to win. Boss fights are really good and the highlight is the combat. The game has very strong Nier Automata vibes at least to me. Looking forward to the full game when I get it from GameFly in late April/early May.

Has anyone here have played steins: gate Elite? Been thinking about picking it up to continue my spike Chunsoft games marathon.

I’ve only played the original version, which I hear is the “preferred” version over Elite, Though I think that’s only available on Steam and PS3 (and 360… even BC, but that version’s not available in English).

But I’m pretty sure Elite is a fine way to experience the story. Technically you are stepping out of “Spike Chunsoft” games here as it’s a 5pb/MAGES title that was just published by Spike Chunsoft West (you’re going to notice this game has no gameplay -at all- besides making a choice sometimes), but yes, it’s one of the best Visual Novels of all time. There’s A LOT of slice of life build up (which is fun in its own right, the characters are excellent, ESPECIALLY THE PROTAGANIST!), but once the train starts… All I’m gonna say.

I can’t remember the last live service game to be as good as Helldivers 2 so soon after its launch in terms of updates.

Arrowhead clearly had alot of this in the tuck because this is really impressive.
