Weird, because it could actually beat SM2 sales in the long run, especially if and only if the game is justified to invest.
If it was up to me, I wouldn’t have cancelled the Spider Man or TLOU multi-player games because they would have had the best chance at success and if it was good, goes up a notch and if the gameplay loop was good, oh man!! Oh well.
It was pretty obvious this was going to be the case when Sony launched this thing priced higher then the console itself and it lacked BC.
Another thing MS got raked over the coals for (No VR console support) that turned out to be the correct decision.
At some point when are Sony fans going to stop buying the side hardware Sony puts out? They never support it and it almost always fails and ends up being a waste of money for consumers.
Sony fans never really seem to learn.
To be fair, Sony corrected that in many markets, by raising the price of the PS5 console…
That to me is a little childish. It’s not the price that held back the VR2 it is more the lack of compelling content. I bought both PS4 VR and PS5 VR on their launches.
PSVR4 on Day 1 had so many amazing new games like Rush Of Blood, REZ and VR worlds with the promise of more to come. While on the PS5VR2 would had none of that and the lack of BC was silly and a massive mistake, which I agree with you on.
I’ll say it’s got nothing on Kinect being bundled with the XBox One. A decision that still hurts the Xbox brand to this very day given how it lost so many Xbox users to the PS4.
Perhaps VR is an intriguing topic because even if you have a product with the most appealing user experience in the world, people may not want to put on a headset and block out everything else. This fact was acknowledged back in the 90s, but the general opinion was that the physical technology was too cumbersome and heavy.
The truth is that VR has a limited range of applications. Do you want a unique experience (VR) or a daily experience? Most people prefer to relax with a daily experience as the ‘gimmick’ of VR wears of at a fast in the way we consume games.
Playstation wasting their money on this endeavour was really strange honestly, typically I feel like they have their finger on the pulse, but lately they seem more desperate and lack judgement.

So many fantastic games and it’s been reduced to God of War vs God of War Ragnarok for the final… so sad.
It doesn’t help that I really couldn’t get into the GoW reboot for whatever reason, however I might try it again one day.
I hated the God of War reboot. I mean literally hated it.
Beyond the fact all the colors are garish as hell & IMO it looks horrible, I just couldn’t understand the disconnect between what others were experiencing… & my own experience.
The combat & gear is broken, basically. Atreus is severely overpowered & my own game turned into a “spam square for Atreus to kill everything” fest. Even bosses (in non scripted encounters in any case).
The rest is just tedious level design with repetitive environmental puzzles.
The bigger story to me is no Bloodborne. The game is forgotten.
While I agree that tournament setup is meh including the final, I loved both God of War 2018 and Ragnarok. They were both my goty for their respective years (2018 and 2022).
Old school God of War was great too but I never beat any of them so the reboot did accomplish that for me. lol
Sony gives no fucks for the best PS4 exclusive. lol
Playing Rez VR is one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had in my 40 years of gaming. Rush Of Blood was so much fun and Astrobot VR is most prob the best 3D platform game ever made. VR2 offers none of that and that’s the killer, not the price or the hardware.
Still, VR is not going to cost SONY users or marketshare like Kinect did with the Xbox One . That the real truth of the matter
I don’t think it that’s good and I would say the ball in more in Fromsoftware court than SONY’s.
I’m glad it wasn’t just me!
I’ve tried to pick it up multiple times and each time I just get bored if I’m honest. It’s odd because I’m a big fan of these narrative type games like this and Last of Us, Tomb Raider & Plague Tale etc.
The boss fights I’ve done have been frustrating, it seems to be mostly prompts where the game takes over for you, taking out the excitement from said fight.
Like you I also found the puzzles repetitive and boring, the exploration wasn’t much better either.
Many people seem to complement the combat, which was fun in parts but again wasn’t anything which stood out for me.
The way people rave about it (and again here) I just feel I’m missing out on something.
Ha yeah I’m sure it may have won! Based on the list I think it’s just games that have either released on PS5 or have been remastered for it.
Other fantastic IP’s like Uncharted, InFamous & Sackboy are missing too.
You spelt any Xbox studio name wrong.
Starting to believe those theories about SONY buying Bungie out of desperation.
