It’s more likely that sony gets bought by somebody bigger then sony buying a big publisher. It would be very interesting if apple/google/amazon decides to buy sony.
Sony is still worth twice ABK on average. Apple could manage, but it would be a regulatory storm in Japan and EU.
Yeah after what MS had to endure to get ABK I seriously doubt any company wants to get caught in that regulatory hell process any time soon.
Also, MS went away by making ABK still available on other platforms. Apple way of thinking is mono-platform by essence.

And FF7R part 2.
Honestly, if those games make it in 2024, that is not bad! I personally don’t care one iota for DS2, but that’s neither here nor there.
The political climate in america changes like the wind. If ms would have bought abk just a few years earlier things would have been much different. In a couple of years we may see a much different situation, sony may well be in much worse shape and want to be bought.
Aside from FFVIIR2, DS2 is the only one for PS to push it as megastar in ads. I guess it’s similar to this year with Spider-Man 2 though DS won’t likely hit 2 million day one.
Yeah, true but come 2025, im thinking a Republican President and Lina Khan being gone from FTC would make things a little easier in my opinion so never say never.
Sony got completely fleeced and hosed by Bungie. Almost $4B. GTFO!! And I agree with you.
Sony’s first party lineup for 2024 in my opinion -
- Helldivers 2
- MLB The Show 24
- Concord
- Stellar Blade
- Rise of the Ronin
- God of War Ragnarok standalone
Death Stranding and Wolverine I think are 2025.
Death Stranding 2 was looking pretty far along the last time they showed it. Hope that’s next year so they can put more resources on the Xbox game lol
Hahaha. In all honesty, I haven’t completed a Kojima game since MGS 2 which I didn’t like at all story and character wise. For me, after the ship, all downhill in that regard. I did play 50+ hours of MGS 5 but then had that stupid horn sticking out my head and covered completely in blood that I couldn’t wash off and found out that if you kill too many people, that happens as it’s a hidden attribute in the game and I was like, fuck this game.
Microsoft getting Kojima to develop a game for Xbox is great and all but for me, like with Death Stranding 1/2, im not expecting it to be for me whatsoever.
Honestly if that ends up being their 24 lineup it will be extremely disappointing. Hopefully Rise of the Ronin is just a timed exclusive.
Rise of the Ronin is published by Sony, so it won’t be a timed exclusive.
I think that, combined with FF7R2, is a decent lineup of exclusives for Playstation players. It’s terrible from a first party studio perspective, but at least a couple of exclusive games worth buying.
Perhaps to some that would be disappointing but for me personally, it would be a great year. I’m hyped for Ronin which is day one and a standalone expansion for GOWR will be day one for me too. Stellar Blade is 50/50 for me as it will depend on if Capcom announces DMC 6 in 2024.
Like pg2g says below, Ronin is published by Sony and is funded by them as well. Think of it like what Contraband is for Microsoft.
From an internal studio point of view, yeah, it would be bad when compared to Sony’s previous three years but let’s be honest, just like Microsoft had a bad 2022, Sony will eventually have a bad year and it will probably end up being 2024.
Not a fan of SONY line up myself and I found Spiderman 2 very much overrated. Other than VR I really haven’t looked to play my PS5
I just don’t understand why the system is selling so well myself LOL
In Europe, people are buying the ps5 because it is the de facto choice.
Ah that is a shame, I wonder if Ninja Gaiden comes back they do another exclusivity deal with Xbox (like they did before).
Each to their own, for me outside of Ronin (which isn’t 1st party) there is nothing which interests me on that list.
Honestly, it might just be me, but I am not connecting with the PS5 exclusives this gen compared to last gen. Spiderman 2 gameplay wise is better than 1, but I didn’t have the same excitement. Then the same goes with Ragnarok and Forbidden West. I think my personal issue is I feel their games are suffering from sequel syndrome where it was great the first itme, but the sequel just doesn’t have the same connection.
I am excited for the 2024 games if Ronin and Wolverine makes it. However, I think I am a bit fatigued with the formula
I agree. For me, it’s just Ronin and the GOWR expansion. Stellar Blade is 50/50 and can go either way. On a related note, Ronin IS a first party game. Just because Sony doesn’t own the studio doesn’t mean that it somehow isn’t a first party game. As Dusk Falls, Contraband, Gears Tactics and others ARE first party games for Microsoft. When the hardware manufacturer is funding, publishing, distributing the game and more times than not, owns the IP, it’s a first party game. Will never understand where this second party bullshit came from.
I’m willing to bet they will use Stellar Blade as a counter to Hi-Fi.
