PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Hmm, not necessarily.

When developed by a third party, they equally may want to retain ownership of the IP. This is often really important to the studio.

For example Insomniac: Xbox fully funded Sunset Overdrive but Insomniac still own the IP: https://twitter.com/insomniacgames/status/464860755540463616?t=qKfLJ4OEz8Nt5vNvjQwx9w&s=19

Using a recent game as an example, Microsoft funded and published the original Alan Wake but only had the publishing rights. Remedy still owned the IP and now the publishing rights have reverted they have made Alan Wake 2 with Epic.

This is the same with many exclusives even going back to Elder Scrolls Oblivion (although Xbox now own that too ), that said the Gears IP was owned by Xbox before SplashDamage made Tactics!

Kena Bridge of Spirits is a recent PS example where they funded the game but Ember Labs retained the IP. It is also my understanding that Sony funded most of Street Fighter 5 but Capcom definitely still own the IP! Sony also funded Final Fantasy 7 Remake but Square still own the IP (the list goes on).

I still consider anything not made by a first party studio as second party…

It’s rare when the publisher doesn’t own the IP.

As for the games you’re mentioning, Oblivion, FF7R, Kena, SF 5, etc. None of them were published by Microsoft/Sony. They were published by Bethesda, Square, Ember Lab and Capcom respectively.

Like I said, if the hardware manufacturer is publishing the game, it’s a first party game. Helldivers 2, Gears Tactics are first party games even though the studios aren’t owned by Sony/Microsoft respectively.

It’s all semantics in the end

Apparently it’s the Insomniac concept artist saying that Wolverine is 2024. Interesting. But is Insomniac big enough as in size to be able to release a huge game a year after SM2?

Looks more like a contracted concept artists that does work for multiple companies and probably doesn’t know much.

Is that one exclusive? I know its timed

Yeah, likely. I mean I know Insomniac is carrying Sony this generation, but it’s not like they have been churning out big games every year, it’s not impossible but it is unlikely.

You mean Ronin? That’s exclusive to PS, or Helldivers?

Maybe Wolverine is also set in New York City so it’s just another dlc-sized release for Insomniac. :man_shrugging:

I think Sony is publishing Ronin, so it’s most likely exclusive. I assume it will be similar to Nioh where it’s only on Playstation and PC

Good one!

Apparently this artist had leaked Death Stranding 2 as well and what not. Still doesn’t mean anything. If Wolverine does manage to come out, has a brand new game world etc, yeah, that’s impressive.

I didn’t like the 1st Spiderman game much and find the 2nd one boring once you get over the wonderful graphics was also very disappointed with God of War Ragnarok which felt like DLC and where you spend more time talking than fighting.

I think XBox got the better In-House games this gen already. If only some of the PS fans just tried a XBox console they might be supprised by the content.

Alright everyone, it’s almost time for Black Friday sales - time for the kid inside to recognize our favorite pseudo-holiday and for our the adult inside to cry in financial responsibility! What gems are you all looking to pick up on the PSN sale or brick-and-mortar deals?

Personally, I’m hoping to pick up Forbidden West primarily but am always likely to bite on anything 40% or more

Ghost of Tsushima is a game I might like to try if it’s pretty cheap. Maybe Forbidden West but I never did end up beating Zero Dawn, I should probably finish that first!

I took some time away from Ubisoft games and when I returned to GoT, my experience was better. Still have plenty of criticisms that I think get overlooked, but if it’s $30 or less, there’s a lot to love especially at that price. Also, Sucker Punch made the best-sounding Sony first-party game of the last few years IMO; the foley artists and orchestration are some of the best the industry has put out in the last decade.

I Hope Theres a good sake for demon souls remaster . I sm not big into spurs but at the right price I would want to add to my collection . Also, hoping for a good price for TLOU : remaster

I’ve allready picked up what I’m interested in in sales for previous years, they don’t release much.

I will keep an eye out for Spider-Man 2 though, but I think it’s too early for that to hit the bargain bins.

Yeah, for real.

I already bought FFXVI, as I’m a fan of the series, and BG3(which is the best timed console exclusive to ever hit PlayStation, even if accidentally lol) and I’m surprised to see that there’s 0 PlayStation exclusives games that I’m interested at the moment(except Spider-Man 2, which will probably not be on Black Friday). At least I’m saving money lol

Tangentially, I’ve recently had my eyes opened to how good the Steam Deck is. I’m intending to get one of the new ones next year and it’s just struck me that this could put off my supposedly inevitable PS5 purchase.

So for my planned first foray into PC gaming, I’ll be looking at CD Keys and such for Sony first-party games. I know the Last of Us remake was a pretty poor port, does anybody know how well the others were? Mostly interested in Spider-Men and Gods of War.

Yeah, I’ve waited for BG3 to hit Xbox though so not even that.

Curious what makes it so good? I have a pretty good gaming laptop with a 3070TI. There are times I want to watch tv and play with it comfortably because having laptop on a lap desk with cooling pad can be a bit straining
