PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Spider Man 2 looks amazing and im looking forward to playing it on October 20th which also starts my 10 day vacation and fast travel is impressive but Starfield has a few seconds of loading which I prefer compared to having it be seemless and I have to go through the planet’s atmosphere twice (once taking off and once landing) or fly from planet to planet like Alana Pearce did which took 7 hours to do. Yeah, im not doing that.

Back to Spider Man 2, im hoping the 4K/60/RT mode is actually 60FPS and doesn’t drop to low 30’s or turn into a Jedi Survivor.

Wow. Spider-Man looks so bland and bare compared to Starfield. Go into any room in Starfield and the amount of stuff being independently rendered is insane. Spider-Man basically has no environmental detail.

That could be a valid comparison if Peter Parker would not regularly fail his driver licence tests.

This is a ps5 game though. Not a souped up ps4 game. Well we will see. I want to know the actual in game resolutions.

Lots of factors at play. Like, what about density, view distance, resolution, RT resolution as well. Sure, you can get games running at 30,40 and 60 fps, but at what costs?

No doubt Insomniac knows their shit though, I’ll give them that, so it’s most likely very well optimized, but I really want to see what it looks like at 60fps.

like with nu-GoW the issue with Insomniac’s spiderman is the middling combat gameplay.

Yup, super pumped for Spider-Man. This trailer looked better than the last time we saw it. I wouldn’t be too worried about the performance, Insomniac are wizards. The game was likely built with RT in mind, so it likely runs great. Makes me wish I had a 120Hz TV so I can play at 40fps mode. I bet that’s the best bang for buck mode regarding how the game will look and feel.

I don’t get all the Starfield comparisons though. Different engines, different scope, different focus, different…everything.

Comparisons between exclusives always happen regardless of which games they are. In regards to fast travel and loading times, both are insanely fast and under 10 seconds so no worries here. I think a lot of people are over hyping Insomniac with the fast travel and speed like they did with Ratchet which while an excellent game, the warping mechanic or whatever you want to call it was very overrated and highly disappointing.

As for Spider Man 2 performance, I’ll be playing in 60FPS mode and Insomniac are awesome as they’re literally carrying the PlayStation 5 this generation by far. Less than five weeks to go!! :joy:

Yeah that shit got old fast.

The Arkham combat formula will never get stale to me. It’s one of my favourite aspects of the Spider-Man games. Hope they don’t change it for the sake of it any time soon.

Yup, so far it’s the best type of combat for these hero games. There’s plenty of options and abilities that do a great job making the player fight like Spider-Man would. I’d be open to an alternative if it was better but we haven’t seen that yet in any action game.

So yeah as I’ve been saying, Sony’s “big” acquisition will be in the mobile space:

Q: Bungie has 1,000 employees and 20-30 years of history making games. You’re counting on a big contribution from them to help you with these 10 games and help you to allocate capital effectively as well as avoid making mistakes. Is that the strategy?

A: Yes, it is. I’ve been talking a lot over the past couple of years with our publishing partners, many of whom are slightly farther down the road than we are in terms of live service publishing. What they al have in common is that they’ve made a lot of mistakes on that road. And |think one of the benefits of being a fast follower inthis space isthat ifwe’re intelligent and thoughtful, we can learn from those mistakes. But these partners can be viewed as our competitors and there’s a limit to what they will share. Having a premier live service publisher within the group who is extremely keen to collaborate with Sony massively increases our ability to learn and our ability to avoid the mistakes that others have made.

Q: You’ve made it very clear that there’s going to be more acquisitions to come. What is an ideal acquisition target and what are you hoping it will help you achieve?

A: I think an ideal acquisition target has to help us deliver on our strategies in a way that we’re not capable of doing on our own. And when |look at our portfolio of studios and our publishing capabilities, we need help in the areas in which we’re not strong at present. We aspire to grow our community, grow engagement with our games, grow the number of people who are playing those games, grow the amount of time people are spending on those games, move across to PC and mobile, and grow the number of people playing with each other. It’s in these spaces, where we don’t have expertise and presence, we need to build expertise. These are some of the reasons behind the acquisition of Bungie. We have publicly stated ambitions in the area of mobile. That’s part of game development that we’ve not been present in any meaningful extent. So, you can assume that we have an interest in acquiring development knowledge and management expertise there.

Q: Did you look at Activision as a target? Was it too big to buy?

A: We know Activision extremely well. They are probably one of our principal partners. In terms of deployment of Sony’s capital, when you look at 69 billion dollars for Activision compared to 3.6 billion dollars for Bungie, we believe that Bungie can give us way more than a 69 billion acquisition of Activision. And that’s before considering the relative value of that particular transaction.

Q: Given the rapid change in competition in gaming, are there some potential M&A opportunities that are larger in size that you would consider? There are some unique software assets not focused on gaming such as Unity, Roblox and Epic for example. Are those targets you might consider going forward?

A: I go back to the comment that I made earlier that a necessary condition for us to consider when making any acquisition is whether it helps us advance our basic strategy of growing our first party publishing business across multiple formats in a way that we have not in the past. And if a potential acquisition ticks those boxes, it goes on the list.

Those are answers from Jimbo himself about what they are looking for acquisitions so I it will be a big mobile publisher (dont know whos left though) and I also expect them to strengthen their PC space.

No surprises here, this game ran pretty well all things considered on my Ryzen 4700U APU. Should be a breeze on M1.

Funny how Destruction All Stars was $70 yet this one is $40. Not sure what that says. Anyway, let’s see Sony can land with this first of many live service.

I think it just says they learned their lesson. They’ll really have learned if it drops into PS+ Extra though.

And didn’t that got praised to the high heavens in reviews? Unless I misremember. I played the first one at my brother’s place back then and felt the combat got samey very quick. It didn’t bother me in other superhero games such as Batman AA and AC.

Basically the exact opposite what hardcore fans want in acquisitions by Sony, lmfao. Oh man, it’s kinda funny.

As much as I have been dunking on Sony for the live service initiative because I think they’ve been putting WAY too many eggs in that basket, Helldivers 2 looks quite fun and polished, and 39.99 is a GREAT price when everything else is 30 bucks more, and for a game they didn’t seem to cheap out on development wise. Of course, only time will tell if the final product reflects initial appearances.

I think they still should launch it on ps+ extra and above .
