PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Agreed lighting is the biggest plus. But Sport already had that

GT7 is gonna be a great return to form.

Really special.

I hated GT Sport.

This is what I’d agree with. The music replay thing is def something that could be implemented in other games and should be. ToD did look good too. I’d be more forgiving on shadows if I could get actual gameplay at some point. So far they have showed almost nothing of what it looks like while actually driving and I’d presume the shadows being fugly in parts might not be noticeable while playing.

Is it true that they didn’t show much of the gameplay?

I wish they showed gameplay in the third person camera view. Most of what they showed were either different first person views or the replay mode.

Man am I happy that GT7 is cross-gen. I don’t care how it’ll look compared to the PS5 version.

I quite literally do not understand why some ppl hold this view. Not tryna sound aggressive or anything, it just perplexes me is all.

To me, the lighting doesn’t imbue the scene with a realistic look at all. Overcast setting looks great but it always does in any game since there isn’t much contrast for anything so it hides the flaws. In the scenes with tunnels, for instance, there are all these spotlights that aren’t seemingly lighting up anything in the scene. In one of the tunnel scenes the spotlights do reflect off the player’s car but they don’t seem to be lighting the actual tunnel surroundings.

There’s lots of weird, unrealistic bloom fx on the high intensity specular reflections and I expected more in terms of things like lens flare, for instance, which w/o them makes the headlights look really strange and unrealistic. Shadows look super simple and at times really low res (like, wildly low res in a few spots). There are other areas with real strange over exposure of the lighting too and I don’t mean when transitioning from darker tunnel to brighter outdoor scenes.

EDIT: Upon watching the SoP footage again, the reflection did really stand out to me this time. Not sure if only due to someone pointing it out but holy hell they are janky during gameplay.

Idk, just looks super appealing to the eye to me. That’s all I got for you.

Just watched it again and there is maybe 5 mins of actual driving gameplay in total across the 35 min presentation. All cockpit so far iirc.

I avoided commenting on it because I thought I would be the odd man out because I wasn’t impressed at all. After seeing responses on twitter I was even more convinced.

GT7 looks amazing and nice to watch it 4k on twitter. I already had it pre-ordered, and this makes me purchase feel better

You are not alone on this, after the very first reveal…every other showcase of the game has pales in comparison to the first one. Funny to see the hyperbole though.

That logomark is giving my designer brain a lot of anxiety right now

the weather sim and skybox tech is pretty dope!

Too bad I ain’t ever playing racing sims :pensive: :fist:

The vibe Gran Turismo gives is more appealing to me than any of both Forzas. GT feels more about cars while Forzas are about racing (sim or arcade).

As a friend puts it, Forzas are racing games and Gran Turismo is car porn.

Actually I felt the complete opposite when Forza Motorsport 7 and GT Sport arrived. Forza has the Forza Vista mode for all cars while GT had nothing similar. Let’s see what Turn 10 does with the next installment. Horizon is something different alltogether. Its a fun vacation a and celebration of car culture in general.

GT Sport was… something.

I wouldn’t consider GT Sport as a proper Gran Turismo. It lacked all that aura a mainline Gran Turismo game has when it comes to the treatment of car culture.

I mean, you just have to see the Café “mode” or how overboard they’ve gone with the photo mode.

I don’t get the same enjoyment out of Forza Motorsport, for some reason. Maybe I don’t enjoy racing games anymore, maybe I just want to sit in front of a pretty car and listen to some music hahaha

But of course, I’m keeping my eye on Forza 8.

I thought the State of Play was great. GT7 looks amazing, can’t wait to play it.

YOOOOOO finally we know what they’ve been busy with! :fire: :fire:

I wonder how long for this one. Factions 2 should be ready by now.
