PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Maybe we are thinking just too much. There could be other reasons for late review codes and stuff. They are a small studio after all.

Personally, I don’t believe that any game should be given a 10/10. I have a good amount of 9.5/10 games since NES but I have never given any game a 10/10. For me to do so, it would have to score 10/10 in all four (or five foropen world games) of my categories and that’s just not going to happen.

Better than I expected

So then you operate on a 0 to 9.5 scoring system

Your 9.5’s are a 10

Not exactly. I rate games 0-10 in the categories but every category would have to be a 10 in order for the game to be a 10 overall. Category wise, it’s usually graphics/visuals that end up with the highest chance of having a 10/10 because very rarely do I play a game in which the visuals aren’t a 10 for me.

As long as each individual game ends up being an 8.0/10 overall based on those categories, im a happy gamer.

It’s all about you, isn’t it?

I buy and play games for myself. It’s not for anyone else so why wouldn’t it be all about me? If you buy and play a game, is it for other people or is it for you?

When critics review games, it’s for them. It’s their opinion for that respective game. Don’t know why anyone would buy and play a game for others. That makes zero sense to me.

Ever heard of streaming? Huh, HUH, HUH???

Okay, I gotta stop messing with you. I’m not actually looking to have a real debate here :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hahahaha. Yeah, you got me. It’s all good though.

Always happy to see a new IP by a fresh studio reviewing well. Shame about the stuff that happened behind the scenes though, it mars what could have been something pretty special apparently, in my opinion :frowning:

Clearly this must be some sort of misinterpretation of what Sony will do with GT7, but as it’s written it says they will prevent game owners from playing their PS4 versions on the PS5.

  • Gran Turismo 7 (Launch Edition )

    • PS4 Version (Disc and Digital)
      • Price: $59.99 USD
      • Can only be played on the PS4
    • PS5 Version (Disc)
      • Price: $69.99 USD
      • Can only be played on the PS5 with a disc drive
    • PS5 Version (Digital)
      • Price: $69.99 USD
      • Can be played on both PS4 and PS5

Damn that’s a beauty

Fairly certain it’s a mistranslation. I think its their typical buy PS4 edition and pay $10 for upgrade to PS5 edition.

Yeah it is from what my friend is telling me

Yeah I read that as they are just trying to emphasize that you do not get the PS5 version as a free entitlement for buying it on PS4.

Played approximately 6 hours of Kena on hard difficulty.

My impressions -

  • Absolutely stunning visually. Everything looks great, detailed and full of animations.

  • Combat and general gameplay is great. Very fluid and responsive. The exploration and platforming is good.

  • Collecting The Rot add a solid amount of depth to the combat. I’m at 29 out of 100. Basic enemies aren’t all that tough while mid-bosses are more challenging. The bosses though are definitely a challenge. Prologue Boss was easy. Dominated him. Second boss I died once. And the third boss I died 5 times. The Rot can help your attacks and allow you to gain back health by acquiring flowers in the area. You gain special attacks as you unlock and acquire them via the skill tree.

  • Music is real good and the voice acting is very well done.

  • Story and characters thus far is solid. I’m enjoying it as it’s keeping me interested and invested.

  • Pure relaxation. Playing through Kena, the world, vibe and tone just makes me completely relaxed while playing through the game. Simply a joy to play.

  • Remapping the buttons for the controller is a major negative for me because I can’t change the weak/strong attack buttons from R1/R2 to Square/Triangle as it conflicts with the throwing of bombs which makes no sense since it’s listed under “aiming” which requires you to hold the L2 button which means that the conflict shouldn’t be happening. With that said, I haven’t acquired bombs yet so if I don’t have to hold down the L2 to aim and R2 to throw them, I can see why it’s a conflict. Won’t know for sure until I acquire the bombs. Either way, I really hate that so many melee focused games put the attacks on the shoulder/trigger buttons instead of the face buttons. Its really annoying.

  • Swimming is fine but Kena swims slow and as far as I know, there’s no upgrade to swim faster. This is even more annoying.

  • Rot Hat Currency. Vast majority of chests that I have opened have either been a new Rot Hat or currency that’s used to buy Rot Hats. I would have preferred better rewards.

  • Skill Tree is very minimal and basic. Fits the game well but compared to other games, it’s non-existent.

Those are my impressions thus far. Overall, really enjoying the game as my negatives are minor even though I do wish I could change the button configuration to the way I want it. Will continue playing tomorrow.

Meta and Open should both toss out the top 2 scores and the bottom 2 scores before computing the aggregate. We would probably get a much more realistic score.

Peter, are you an accountant or engineer? You seem to have organized systems in place for every facet of your gaming life.

No judgment if so - three of my best friends are accountants and my son is an engineer.

Hahaha. No, im not. I work in retail and no, it’s not gaming related, sadly.

Gaming is my #1 form of entertainment. AEW Wrestling is probably right now second with NFL, TV Shows and Movies rounding out my top 5.

Gaming is the only thing I do keep track of with documents and stuff. Mainly because I want to keep better track of how much im spending, getting back, etc. Also, the days of me playing 6’s and even 7’s is done (and by this, I mean if a game doesn’t look like it’s going to hit at least an 8/10 overall for me, it gets dropped and has nothing to do with critics and whatnot) this generation so it’s easier to keep track of everything in documents as I have too much documented to remember it all. lol.

Got it.

I admire your organization skills. I’ve started several projects over the years to document games I’ve played, want to play, etc. but I am never able to stick with them.
