I don’t actually think there’s anything fishy going on, it’s just Sony being odd and hyper-controlling like every other aspect of the PS5’s launch has been. The console is going to be out in like 5 weeks, just let people look at the UI, how hard is it not to keep every tiny detail a state secret?

The participants weren’t allowed to touch the console nor see any of the UI outside of games.

Some real meltdowns unfolding today lol. Any expression of disappointment or confusion over the weird reveal event does not sit right with some folks.

Can’t help but feel that the PS5 is just designed as a super casual console. Launching with Astros playroom pushing ratchet and clank and a gimmicky controller you blow on. Just feels like Series X is for the serious gamer and PS5 is for the casual crowd. Just my read of it.

This format is such a fail of a hands on reveal. Its an entirely controlled format on catered to the Japanese audience and I bet they’re only showing the games and not the full UI.

In contrast, Xbox sent the Series X to every YouTube reviewer and let them go at it on their own.

Sony had great marketing last gen, but this year, Xbox owns the narrative.

As expected, a heavily controlled first impression with Japanese influencers only and nothing else. Yet.

Sorry, but after Sony pretty much just straight up lying to us all year I can’t really take their word on that to be honest. They showed gameplay and said it was captured on PS5. But all this weird…secrecy isn’t helping them.

Precisely. They showed gameplay from games that are cross-gen (that they deliberately lied that were next-gen only) and a couple of * supposedly * next-gen games that aren’t ready for release. And that’s it.

I did see Godfall just now and that seems to be running from the actual hardware. But then I read about how a light should be emitting from the system and it doesn’t. So it’s fake then?

Whatever the case, Godfall doesn’t look like anything special.

The fact that blowing on a controller is a showcase feature is mind boggling, This isn’t geared towards real gamers. Heck I don’t even think casual gamers will be excited to blow on a controller mid game.

Yes its an actual feature, it’s used in the astro playroom to trigger an action.
