I love how some people are still in denial about the show’s success and still insist it’s a flop. It’s also already begun filming for S2 lol
You mean special effects and the spaceships, costumes etc with that? I’ve yet to see it. Got quite a bit of catching up to do with the de SW shows, currently at Mandalorian S2 and then I’ll go for Obi Wan and then Andor. Am I forgetting one? Feels like there’s one more.
HotD has superior performances and HBO overall have some top tier acting directors, probably the best, but come on now RoP has decent performances, saying soap opera is a bit disrespectful.
Some have grown a little on me but I honestly find most of it nothing too special, and not only compared to GoT/HotD either.
Is it a show or movie ?
That and also just how it’s written and paced.
There’s also the Book of Boba Fett.
Yes, that! Quite a bit to watch still.
By the way, is it just me or is the HDR on these Star Wars Disney + shows not too great?
HDR is wack in general on D+.
She-Hulk
I said I was done with it, thought this was the finale and figured it would have to have Daredevil. Was half right
Liked Daredevil in it. Hated every other inch of that episode
The Rings of Power
Now this show has become very VERY good. As badly as some don’t seem to want that to be the case
This was is an example of getting some proper build up, leading into some quite excellent pay-off
It is a movie.
Hot damn, that was a fantastic episode from HotD. I have a little complaint with Daemon executing Vaemond like that, it should’ve been ordered by the king first at least, but oh well, this is nothing compared to previous episodes where at least one scene was foundationally nonsensical. So, I’d say it’s definitely the most consistent episode so far as well.
Also, Aemond is gonna give me anxiety isn’t he…
Incredible episode.
Paddy Considine was breath-taking in his performance.
I think the writing can be improved here or there, but yeah I am also really enjoying it. For example, the actress playing Galadriel is fantastic, but she does act needlessly dumb or confrontational for the sake of moving the plot forward. I also hate Theo. He should have died in the volcanic eruption.
That said, the production value of the show is insane. Between RoP, HotD and Andor (all prequel series in massive IPs), I am most curious about where the plot for RoP is going. There seems to be more mystery in RoP than in HotD and Andor.
There’s a lot of potential in RoP but they should realize their strengths. Slow build-up is great if done well but it shouldn’t take so long, especially when they still imo lack explosive performances and witty dialogue. Look at HotD, there’s a lot of slow episodes and a lot of plot nonsense if you dig a bit deeper but their immaculate performances and dialogue work very well to cover for the shortcomings or even if you do notice the nonsense, you’re willing to let it go because the performances and dialogue writing are just so incredibly convincing.
Emma, Matt, and Paddy sweep at the Emmys, calling it.
Yeah I think the writing and the performances in HotD are the best of the bunch, and it really shows how much more talented the people at HBO (writers, directors, set design people, etc.) are in comparison to any other network. HotD (and Andor imo) have better characters and writing than RoP (HotD > Andor > RoP). I really love the slow episodes in HotD personally, and I wished we got one more episode with Harwin and Leana.
That said, I already know who is going to be on the iron throne at the end of the war without even reading the books (there are plenty of context clues in HotD and GoT). Andor isn’t going to deviate too much from being a typical Star Wars story and we know it ends with Rogue One. For RoP, we still don’t know who Sauron is or who the wizard character is. Book readers don’t know this. Will we get the creation of the Ringwraiths, etc.? This is why RoP is the most mysterious of the bunch.
Yeah RoP definitely has a lot of mysteries. There’s no source material for it really.
