Not surprised after all the drama

I had not followed any of it. What happened?

I was going to write it all out, but I think it’s just better to link you an article

Fantastic 4 has also been pushed back.

Rings Of Power Season 2 Could Take Years, Says LOTR Showrunner https://screenrant.com/rings-power-season-2-production-timeline-showrunner-response/

Another couple of years

Figured. For the quality of production that they set, 2 years would actually be quite a reasonable timeline.

I also expect House of the Dragon S2 to air April/May 2024 at the earliest. Post-covid production isn’t gonna be the same as before.

The last episode of Andor was fantastic. The heist had a lot of tension, and “the eye” was a visual spectacular. Andor had to kill Skeen because if Andor said no to Skeen’s plan Skeen would have needed to kill Andor. Also, Skeen arguing to visit the doctor in the ship was just a ploy so that he could make his play. That could have been a finale episode, but we still got 6 more episodes.

I watched the movie Old by Shyamalan but holy shit what happened there?

This is some of the worst acting I’ve seen in a long, long time. Truly every actor and actress just acts incredibly ridiculous, just horrible really. One of the girls is the girl from Jojo Rabbit and she CAN act but she behaves so weird, so fake in this.

So bad that it ruins the whole thing for me.

@Vivir You watch it yet, homie?

Admittedly, I have not been huge on Andor to this point. This last episode “The Eye” changed all that. That was spectacular. I know get what they were doing and am fully in from here on out. Very glad there is still more show remaining

Admittedly, I was not huge on She-Hulk to this point. This last episode “Who’s Show is This?” changed…fuckin nothing. That was more of the vapid, network TV-level writing, with the worst characters acting like the most exagerrated example of douch bags in situations thought out by 12 year olds. Very glad that show is over

Is anyone going to see Halloween Ends?

They should have ended it years ago in my opinion. It’s insane all the things this guy seems to survive. There truly doesn’t seem a way to kill him, that way they can just keep shitting out these movies. Lacking any kind of originality or tension.

When GRR Martin is texting you to say your portrayal is better than the character in the book you know you have done good.

His entrance into the throne room was the ultimate power play for his daughter.

Netflix’s ad-supported tier:

  • $6.99
  • 4-5 minutes of ads per hour
  • 720p limit
  • Not all content available
  • No offline download

Not clear what device limit there will be but I think it’s gonna be, at best, two devices if not one.

Not a good offering at all imo. $4.99 is the most they should ask for with all those cut downs.

I don’t see anyone subscribing to it at $7. It’s only a $3 savings and has ads rolling throughout the movies and shows. The Ad Basic is limited to 1 stream at a time just like the Basic tier is limited. It has 10-15% less content because of license rights not allowing Ads on that content, so instead of showing it without ads they’re simply not showing it at all.

For it to be successful uptake, they need to have an Ad Tier at each level and for far cheaper, something like this: [ Ad Basic for $5, Ad Standard for $8, Ad Premium for $10 ].

Here’s their offerings:

  • Ad Basic: 1 ad-laden stream 720p $7
  • Basic: 1 stream 720p $10
  • Standard: 2 stream 1080p $15.50
  • Premium: 4 stream 4K $20

Really liked the Rings of Power finale. But this whole season should’ve probably been the first 5 episodes of a 10 episode season lol. Stretching so little of events over so much time removes so much of the urgency and tension. 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8 were the best episodes where the show showed a lot of its strengths. And also seriously fuck off with the Harfoots and how much screentime they got, my God they are so unbelievably boring.

720p is a joke lol.

Indeed. I was made aware that is an improvement over what it was before for Basic, 480p.

The Woman King

I knew beforehand about all the commotion, and I gotta say I get where people are coming from. Real history is not being told here. But I went into the movie with the mind state that this is for a big part fiction, they tell a story, just not the real and complete one. Go with that mind state and it’s a fine cinema experience.

I’m not gonna defend this, as I will also not defend Hollywood’s wide history of misrepresentation of history, but I find it funny people start to loudly care about historical accuracy almost only when it involves women and/or people of color lol.

And I’m not accusing you of this btw, I know it was overblown online around the film’s release and that’s where you probably got the note, and I appreciate that, I think it’s important to point out, I just wish people just kept it consistent and called out any and every historical misrepresentation in media :man_shrugging:

Goliath on Prime is pretty good. Finished season 1. The more I watch from Amazon Prime originals the more I see that Amazon are not playing. Their original content is actually legit. They still don’t have the mechanics of making their shows pop culture phenomenons like Netflix/HBO/Disney, outside of The Boys RoP their shows have been outside of the wide pop culture conversation.
