Movies and TV shows thread

I was under the impression that Duffer Brothers would be all about original works fully under their creative control. Death Note of all things :confused_wat:

Some of what I’m hearing critics say about Love and Thunder, is it way more a silly comedy than even Ragnarock was. Which means some may love it, but some may feel it’s too much of a parody and doesn’t have enough seriousness to counteract the siilyness

At least as far as Thor is concerned. Jane and Christian Bale’s character Gor have some very serious things going on

I definitely will be seeing this film. As it’s a Taika Waititi movie and if there is more comedic, hey it’s Taika comedic. And that guy is fucking awesome. Ragnarock was one the greatest Marvel movies and Jojo Rabbit is in my top 20 movies, all time

I’m all for the Sillyness. I just hope Tiaka doesn’t go full Guardians 2.

Yo Cobra Kai is really fucking good . I heard it was good but no one told me its this good . :phil_lmao:

Sorry, I would have told you…but I fucking hate Cobra Kai

Yes!

When my buddies told me about this a year or two ago I said…wtf is it even? And they said it’s regarding Karate Kid and I was like dude that was the 80s, we don’t need this. Until I gave it a chance, it’s awesome. Especially Johnny and Daniel, but also the bond between Miguel and Johnny. So well done, big surprise.

nvm . I misread it . WTF is this .

In all seriousness, it was pretty similar for me. I finally gave it a shot once it came to Netflix. And I did kind of enjoy it, despite how just overall bad the acting is in it, and the karate wasn’t even good

It just wore me down after awhile and got to the point where even the funnier stuff with Johnny was no longer enough to hold my interest.

I don’t really hate it…but I certainly can’t say I like it

Oh you’re absolutely right about the acting, but for me this is one of those rare occasions where I don’t mind it at all.

Shitty thing about this is that actual good scripts dont get enough budget to get a decent adaptation but shit like this gets 2D movie budget . Great .

Sony Animations are either some of the best animation movies you’re gonna see or hot garbage

Damn, R.I.P Santino

Apparently James Caan passed away

Damn. Rest in peace!

Just got back from Thor: Love and Thunder.

I really, really enjoyed this and if there’s one complaint is that it ends too soon. The movie isn’t short, but I wanted much more of this. So…the complaint is a compliment at the same time. I REALLY want to see that extended version, please let it come out.

Christian Bale was fantastic as the villain, I’ve never quite seen him act like this, meaning he’s really convincing as villain. I really enjoyed the humor here, story was interesting enough, some really nice locations and Thor and the others (whom I shall not name, maybe some here haven’t watched a single trailer) carried the movie nicely. Maybe another small issue is that some stuff happens a bit too abruptly.

As for the spoilers…

I thought Natalie as Mighty Thor was fine, it works for me alongside the others, but I don’t think she’d be able to carry a movie of her own. I don’t know the comics, so I’ve no idea what’s going to happen.

Gorr was not enough in it, but the scenes Bale got he shines. But the movie in a way did feel a bit too short, some stuff kinda feels like it could have taken some time to build up. Again, give us that extended version. It was great to see the Guardians too, always great. It seems clear to me there will be another one and I would be very fine with that.

Very happy with Taika and I would not mind at all if he makes more Marvel movies. The right balance of humor and somewhat more serious stuff.

The Boys: I am so tired and done with The Homelander as a plotline. Its time for the series to move on, but its clear they wont.

I couldn’t agree more. I don’t expect it to be beat for beat with the comics (it isn’t and hasn’t been), but the Homelander diversions are incredibly frustrating given that the one who killed him in the comics is now dead and the other one that could have is back on ice.

Now that Edgar is out as CEO and Neuman is VP, I think that thread would be far more entertaining to pull on. Obviously Homelander is supposed to be the embodiment of right-wing fascism and the corruption we see in American society brought on by the Tea Party and Trump… but I think I just need a break from having to live it every day, and the good guys need a damn W.
