Microsoft Rewards Game Pass Quests

Something seems weird, it is working for me now, but felt off the last three(?) days like it was capping it.

I think I saw something that they limit it to 3-4 searches in 15 minutes (possibly also first 3-4 searches per day don’t count) and then you have to wait to get more. It’s a bit annoying.

Welcome to two to three months ago.

The way the limiter works is the first searches of the day need to be at least 6 seconds apart and the reward points doesnt increment until the third search. You would see a big +15 point increment. The fourth search woud give the typical +5 points (+20 points total). Then you would have to wait at least 15 minutes until the next 4 searches count again (+20 points again).

It may not be how you’re searching but the time you’re searching.

Where some are being hit with the timeout limiters, I am seeing it completely removed during most hours of the day on my main account. Try shifting when you’re searching and try not doing the lazy click the next item in the series search but typing a new search phrase.

Ok, yeah it seems like there’s some sort of throttle/cap on the trending searches, but it looks like typing a random search or using the typeahead suggestions are just throttled by a few seconds.

Yeah, its a very odd and bizzare system they have going on now. I tried experimenting with it to figure out any rhyme or reason but its a bit sporadic.

If I search between the hours of 8am to 1pm (Eastern Standard Time) (maybe a little later) my searches are limited to 4 per 15 minutes regardless of the type. If I search earlier (like 4am to 7am) my natural searches only have 6 second between limiter. If during this off hour time, I do the simple clicking it only counts for anywhere between 45 to 65 points max. The one day none of the client browser pages showed points incrementing after any searches but the Rewards Page showed them incrementing if refreshed.

Re: searches

I don’t understand the complaints. Obviously the reason they give points for searches is to encourage people to set Bing as their default. People just firing off a bunch of searches first thing isn’t helpful to them. By having it have various time delays and seemingly random limiters, they’re just trying to make it difficult to abuse the system in that way. Makes perfect sense to me.

Just set Bing as your default, and you’ll likely hit the cap every day organically. I know I do most days.

If it were that simple, I don’t think they should segment the searches between mobile and desktop. I could easily hit it on mobile, but for desktop it’s a struggle. Also given that desktop is 2/3s of the daily search points it’s just easier to cheese it.

I can’t link my work user with it any more (it’s blocked by work) so it actually does take a good bit of effort for me to hit the max now.

1 play short of getting the 1000pts

It’s on me though, after the Tango news I took a break from games and didn’t play for at least a week.

You have one more day tho?

Unfortunately the way it works is that it ends on the 3rd. Rather than the third the last day you can do them.

Important info for anyone trying to do this stuff. That listed day is the day where you cannot perform those challenges.

That’s painful :frowning:

It was nice while it lasted, I guess I need to check to see if they have a new version.

They do. It’s 12K instead of 10.5K for the Auto-Redeem 1 Month GPU. Here’s what I posted earlier in the discord as I encountered it 6+ hours ago:

I think that’s the new prices, 12K and 8.5K versus 10.5K and 7,5K

The $10 Xbox Credit remains at 8750 points

So autoredeem at 12K points would be like spending $13.71, if you use 8750 points for $10 as the base or $12 as straight conversion with no discounts. Definitely the better use of points is to go with the $10 Credits or save for hardware.

I’d go with the 8750 for $10, but it’s been hit-or-miss for me on picking up new DLC or buying games, and I don’t recall how quickly the CREDITS expire. I assume the $10 is auto-added onto account balance and the expiration countdown starts.

So, it’s basically the discount for auto-redeeming that goes away? Not the option to pay for GP with points?

Maybe, and Correct.

There is a new option to Auto-Redeem for GamePass Core and GamePass Ultimate. It remains to be seen if the discount went away. Currently the Auto-Redeem is the same points as normal redeem. I suspect on August 1st, the points to redeem for GPC and GPU will be increased.

Found a resource for people still collecting points (I’ve fallen off since the changes). It is a YouTube channel called “One Minute Achievements” where if you do need a quick Achievement to collect your 1000 monthly quest points, it’s really handy.

Sounds really useful. Keeping this in mind once I exhaust AC Valhalla and Doom 1+2 (previously was using Lego Skywalker Saga).

I don’t have a good url, but if you go into rewards, redeem rewards, and search for Beetlejuice, you might have an offer to get the original movie for a pretty low number of reward points. This was about $1.50 or so for me.
