So the Rewards Hunter has called it a day, and is retiring his channel. This will be a contrarian opinion, but basically the MS Rewards program was giving us free stuff, and perhaps we shouldn’t complain too much if Microsoft nerfs it. I don’t understand what the changes they made to game quests, because I never used it, I mainly toted up points via Bing searches.
Honestly I find the current status of the program easier to do than the previous way I got it, and I can still earn around 5000 points a month from Xbox as well as however much I earn from Bing without trying too hard. I liked the quests but they took more time. The one I really miss is the points per gamerscore one but I get why it’s gone.
I don’t see much difference. I mean sure back then it might be a lot quicker to get a lot but let’s be honest. It was too good to be true. It’s still pretty good. Got enough to purchase two newly released AAA titles.
I still make sure to pop an achievement per day because I like maintaining a streak on TA, but I appreciate that they’ve decoupled the Game Pass quests from popping a daily achievement. Makes it easier to just play at the pace you want instead of worrying about “saving” your next achievement for the next day.
Yeah, agreed. I can play whatever and not worry about what achievement I’m unlocking now. I do prefer that.
I just went and did some math on how much I could earn from rewards (Bing, Bing app + xbox) in a 3 month period if I had not been earning points the day before that (so starting all streaks / puzzles new) with approx values for daily set and assuming the puzzle gives 500 pts every 6 weeks instead of 1000.
Its still over 46000 points (mostly from Bing but still) for a 91 day period which I find worthwhile. Sure that assumes no skips and no additional point reductions, but it’s absolutely possible right now.
Plus if you look at weather on MSN you can get a tree planted every couple of months (haven’t done exact math on that one and I’m bad at missing days of that for some reason)
I don’t try to min-max the points for the most part. If I can get at least 8750 per month (for the $10 Xbox credit auto-redeem) then I’m satisfied.
I tend to go for that one as well, and honestly that’s all I really care about as well, but I am an analyst so it’s hard not to try to see the walls. Also I appear to have missed at least one of the things that gives points, so the max I could get in that time frame is higher than what I said.
Anyone want to share your 8-pack for January? I’m curious to see what Game Pass games others are playing!
Brotato, call off duty, Spyro, Indiana Jones, starfield, forza horizon 5, for the king 2, Carrion.
Only brotato CoD involved me actually playing. 4 of them were days i didn’t have time so turned on Xbox with those other games and let them sit idle till it shut it self off.
Last 2 were on the cloud just giving them a try. But had it all knocked out early so ninja Gaiden 2 black didn’t make the cut and ufc didn’t. Robodunk isn’t gamepass but I’m sure next month will have more games i play
I never figured out how this worked because games weren’t registering for me. So what I discovered in the last 10 days here is that I have to play a different game everyday as my first game of the day for it to count.
Is this how it works or is it some bug I’m running into?
As a result, my list is pretty random because I just chose random GP games.
I’m simply not consistent enough with the Bing stuff to get enough points for free GPU every month, unfortunately. I’ve got to figure out a way to get it in my daily routine.
i think with all Rewards stuff you have to play the game at least 15 minutes to count.
Correct. It can be the same game every day for it to count as long as it’s over 15 minutes, such as Microsoft Solitaire on a PC for getting credit for PC Game and GamePass Game quests. At least if you’re subscribed to GamePass Ultimate, not sure if it counts being only PC GamePass.
I did that but I played Halo for a half hour first which was already counted and then I played a Game Pass game for an hour and that second Game Pass game didn’t show up
This happened a couple of times and that’s why I actually changed the order. So instead of playing Halo first I played the other Game Pass game for 15 minutes and that’s when it counted.
I apologize as I’m using voice to text here and so the grammar and punctuation might be off
Weird because i know for 2 of mine i played back to back on cloud just trying the games and they both counted. I did hear that ea play games don’t count but that doesn’t seem to be the issue here
It’s a bit finicky. I’ve seen it update the punchcard right at minute 16 of playing the game, and another time when a game didn’t show up on my punchcard until hours later. I doubt it has anything to do with the order you play games each day though.
