I believe it was quest dedication which gives you 500pts. Quest completionist is a new one . Maybe its different per region, but here in Canada we’ve never had that one
Its not a nerf, its making it easier and simplier to complete. No longer need to do multiple weekly 250s to get that 1000 points. Doing 1 achievement in a gamepass game each day will easily give you 60 Daily Quests (1 for playing gamepass game and 1 for achievement in gamepass game) and the Weeklies needed to get that 1000 Point Monthly.
Haha, that’s probably the reason for the change tbh.
I definitely prefer the new system.
It’s a double edged sword because it got people to check out the cloud gaming feature and get accustomed to it. It’s how I check out most Game Pass games now until I decide to download.
The other thing is that it got me to check out games I would have otherwise not have checked out. There were a few that I fell in love with.
At the same time, it probably hammered servers heavily for 1-2 days a week.
Yeah, I think it probably worsened the experience for those who really use the cloud service as it is intended.
I managed to fully let go. I haven’t intentionally done any rewards stuff for about a month and half now. I am at peace now. Jan 1st auto redeem GPU was. for the most part, the last of my points.
As I’ve said earlier, for many people the cost of GPU is 1-2 hours of working at most minimum wage jobs. When you add up the effort it takes it’s around that much.
Now, if you’re riding a bus to work, or are doing this during online game matchmaking, then it makes sense to get what you can. But it’s really more effort than it’s worth in many cases.
I feel the key with every reward program is not allow it to consume you. The program is fair for the most part where purchases I make on xbox store provides cashback in reward points. Plus, doing some of the daily bing quests takes a minute or 2, so it was always whatever. I didn’t do some weekly quests if it’s too tedious and not interfering with my free time.
For me it went from being a program that as long as you engaged with it you got something out of it to simply not being worth the time. It was worthwhile to do some searches every day and the quizzes and such and get a month or two of game pass. I earned a lot of free months of GPU out of it (have it till Feb 2025 from rewards alone). I don’t blame them for balancing it out. For me it just reached a threshold where I would rather just pay for it when the time comes.
Got the 10 point question about favorite Spider-Man movie today: Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man: No Way Home. I have to say, after seeing the results, I have now lost all faith in humanity!
Honestly, I don’t pay much attention to the results because most people just hit “A” no matter what
Now that they’ve changed back to the 1000 pt Quest Completionist where you need quite a few daily achievements, and the system only registering one out of five of every one of my achievements, that will be impossible for me now. Which is a shame. I think I need to call it quits but I’m too addicted.
Been a week already
So the rumour about the phasing down of the Rewards App on console are confirmed to be invented? It’s still going on with weekly quests and occasional store links for 5 points each.
As we like to say in Germany, some things are cooked hotter than they are eaten. This is a case like that. I do believe the online complaints slightly helped with regards to the search cooldowns though.
That’s a shame. I’ve not had issues with my achievements registering, been using Goat Simulator 3 around 2pm through 8pm EST.
The phone app has a daily play on console for 5 and a play 4 times a week on console for 250.
