Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

It’s always interesting to see some employees say stuff. Didn’t that CFO pretty much shot down Bethesda exclusives? Soon as E3 rolled around Redfall was announced as exclusive, Starfield was and late last year TES VI.

Freaked out about what? That MS comes after them next?

Link?

While possible MS would not announce it or announce it like this if they thought it was not a sure thing. This is the kind of announcement that changes stock prices and MS knows they could not shake things up like this if they were not sure.

The gist of it is that they are freaked out because they view it as a nigh impossibility of creating their own types of subscription services and they see it as you essentially have no choice but to put it in game pass. And once you go in game pass, you cant get back out because you just cant offer the same value proposition.

Now this would actually cause a hang up in the acquisition and not anti-trust fearmongering.

But which publisher could do that before? Most have gone down the route of GaaS and lack any sort of diversity or just sheer number of games.

Have a distinct feeling this is going to end up with union busting… lol

Microsoft don’t exactly have a history with tolerating unions.

I don’t see Star Wars or Marvel in my Netflix subscription :man_shrugging:.

The most important thing you can do for your sanity is delete your twitter account.

Not sure. Microsoft’s legal team has run through all the scenarios 100x before going public with this deal. Phil’s tweet wasn’t some spur of the the moment “Oh no maybe they think this is an anti-trust move, better tweet away their fears!” thing. The language used in that tweet was probably hashed out weeks ago in preparation for this announcement. Phil’s a genuine dude but he’s not out here just running his yap freely about 70 Billion dollar business dealings. Everything is calculated.
