Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

I did that for around a year or more, but recently made a new account for CS proposes. God help me :sob:

I don’t understand why people are acting like MS and AB didn’t do their research with their legal teams beforehand.

The answer is that people are stupid. People don’t want reality; they want the world to conform to their perspective.

Nick told Jeff Grubb that a Mario Musou game is in development.

That’s something I didn’t see coming, hahaha.

It’s a ridiculous take. If the DoJ are to get involved it will be over Market Share and Sales rather that individual titles.

The idea that multiplatform availability of these games being a deciding factor is dumb. What would stop MS saying they will keep Call of Duty multiplat then immediately changing the name of the franchise after the deal closes. ( I know they wouldn’t )

Also, the acquisition could be deemed monopolistic whether the games are or are not available on PS. It wouldn’t change the fact that you can only buy them from MS from now on.

The big difference this time is we know that MS has been talking to Congressmen about this and the result of those discussions was MS offering them assurances about the way they are handling the deal. Add to that Phil’s tweet, MS’s comments, Sony’s comments, the investor FAQ they put up and what sources were telling some in the press and it all points in the direction against CoD being exclusive.

He isn’t. He is just being sensible.

Because they’re just a bunch of people who like video games trying to parse through the business dealings of a bunch of megacorps and make sense of it all. 99.99% of people don’t know shit about shit when it comes to business so even “basic” stuff like running things by the legal gets overlooked. Even as I type this I’m just pulling words and phases out of my ass because I also don’t know shit about shit. It just sounds good. I’m only 2 pages ahead of Timdog when it comes to understanding this stuff. Everybody is shooting in the dark on this topic.

People are trying to be fake lawyers online.

MS has made it clear that new Xbox games will be on Game Pass. Any other answer you are talking yourself in circles.

They 100% did their research. That doesn’t mean the deal goes thru unscathed if they aimed to keep CoD exclusive. It’s likely imho that as a result of their lawyers research, they realized the deal could be in jeopardy if they tried to keep CoD exclusive and so they aren’t going that route. As a result, all indications are that the deal will sail through the process smoothly.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other what will actually happen. But I dont really consider taking a measured stance on it as fearmongering.

It would probably behoove everyone to accept that anything is possible, and things may be different due to the sheer scale of the deal.

Its amazing how so many gamers become experts at these things when they happen :phil_unsure:

This.

I genuinely don’t care if CoD is exclusive or not. I have no skin in that game so I really don’t care if more people get to play them. One thing is for sure though I am part of the Xbox ecosystem. Future is looking real bright.

I am too of the opinion that they will taking the best decisions ( more like they already did it ), so whatever happens I’m fine.

Oh god, is this discussion going to last the next year to 18 months?

Yes and the discussion will get worse as time goes by.

Let’s just remember what Xbox did with Bethesda and be surprised if something else happens

Well just like Bethesda, I think the timing of the announcement is intentional. They will have 10 months to work through approval by the time MW2 hits. I believe the hope is to get MW2 on Game Pass at launch or at least within the first 6 months.
