This take is too rational, without any drama, solid 3/10.

Everyone knows its not genetics, its what the government puts in the water… :troll:

I dunno, I distinctly remember as a child growing up in the UK learning my ABC’s, my 2 times table and why we should regulate big businesses and restrict tech mergers. It was pretty standard, we got a gold star every time we correctly spelled the name of a big business that the government should be cracking down on.

Can Xbox Flip the EU on Activision? | What of Sony and PlayStation? (VL748)

I’m judging the UK CMA only not the overall UK government.

UK CMA are purly the ones having major problems with this wile everyone else beside the FTC pass this deal with no restrictions.

IDK man, Jim Ryan is from the UK he went and talk to the ‘UK CMA’ personally.

After that stuff, now there is all sorts of pushback from the UK CMA.

I think this appearance is all primary a result of the shallow nature of the CMAs phase 1 investigation. They do not even verify information until Phase 2.

Usually, there is not an organization blatantly lieing to (I dont mince words and say misleading like news organizations) the CMA. I expect a massively different outcome in the Phase 2 investigation than in Phase 1.

And Phil went there to show the phyisical consoles :man_shrugging:  “This is aSSD”

I hope so, but if not… than well my theory of Jim Ryan complaining will come full circle.

LOL :joy:

I wonder if Microsoft leaking out the 10 year deal to Sony isn’t only to show Sony isn’t willing to take anything, in the public space but also to let everyone know that this is probably the length we can expect the consent decree to be, because I doubt they’re gonna be able to come out and publicly say after the deal goes through how long it is.

It might be a stretch but, with how people are these days and how secret the industry is, it’s probably best to let people know, otherwise we’re gonna get a constant question about all of it.

Well, Hoeg said that might be the part of negotiating tactics with the regulators. Even that politico leak might be that.

But Sony made it clear that they want the deal blocked and Microsoft just went to the regulators. I guess the next time, they will know that they don’t need to talk to Sony at all.

Oh yeah without a doubt this ‘leak’ was a play to help get what they want, just like how FTC is leaking out to scare Microsoft they’ll do something and so on. I just wonder if there is an element to this 10 year thing that is telling us how long the deal is probably going to be. Because here is us with FF7R STILL wondering if it’s ever coming to Xbox lol. I know that is such a low priority thing though but I’m glad it leaked because we now know how long this deal is probably going to be.

It is funny, Sony gets a 3 year deal and it’s not enough, then gets a 10 year deal and crickets. I think that shows how Sony actually feels and regulators would see that as well. Sony is a bit silly for making this all about COD being on Playstation because now Microsoft is offering that and if they say no then it’s like what the hell do you actually want and if it’s just simply the deal to not happen that is not really a good enough thing for FTC/CMA/EU to latch onto.

I think this could be when Sony got Google to jump in as well.

10 years is a long time and something that regulator might not have asked in the first place, however as Hoeg said, Microsoft wants to look like a good guy and want to wrap it up ASAP. If they were planning to support COD like Minecraft, it does not matter for that - Minecraft has been multiplat for 8-9 years at this point. With Minecraft legends it will be 9 years I guess

I guess the next time they will set the deadline to a further date like 2 years instead of 1.5 years so it would give bigger buffer

FF7R deal did not involve the regulators and thus was not public so Sony might as well extend it all the time and nobody cares. Even Microsoft in their response called Final Fantasy as the first party title.

The question is whether Microsoft’s gambit plays out or not. If it plays out then it might create a framework for other companies. Especially with the unreasonable FTC.

Yeah 10 years is like, look regulators we know you think we’re talking shit and while we can’t say forever here is a 10 fucking year long contract that is insane that we shouldn’t even need to sign but we will to prove we’re not talking shit, but obviously in a nicer tone.

No all I am saying is how everyone in the Xbox community is always asking when FF7R is coming to Xbox and the whole questions around all these Sony deals, I wasn’t talking about regulators doing anything about em. Microsoft ‘leaking’ the 10 year thing could’ve stopped that same thing from happening with everyone asking when the deal is over.

Typically all conditions of acquisition concessions are public information and available to everyone. They’re even boasted about by the regulatory bodies as a “look what we got!”. They need the full transparency with their constituents.

In addition to that it likely needs to be declared to shareholders of the parent company.

Of course that might all be wrong, but I haven’t seen anything “secretive” as conditions of mergers and acquisitions that I looked at.

That’s good then, I wonder what happens with the marketing deal, I assume that ain’t getting extended either, that would be wild.

FTC staff recommendation on Activision sale to Microsoft expected by mid December - report

So they’re expecting to make a “staff recommendation” by mid December and then fully decide by January - does anyone know what the distinction is here? I’m guessing they make a preliminary decision internally which Microsoft can then work to rectify through negotiating concessions with the intent to formalise their decision by January - but like I said, that’s just guessing.
