Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

That was proposed to Sony by Phil and they rejected the offer. Read up in the thread.

Now it wasnt an official concession to regulators, but that exact offer was on the table and Sony said it was inadequate.

I know that was what Phil offered to Playstation.

My point is that if regulators end up seeing ā€œoffering Call of Duty till the end of the generationā€ as an adequate concession, Microsoft is going to take it and Sony has to resign to it (or go to court I guess).

No concessions. My stance hasn’t changed.

Some people are going wld with the concessions though :joy:

Cousin Frank says the EU biggest concession is Microsoft makes a Mini-Dreamcast.

If after all this whining from the CMA that is the holdup i will laugh soooo hard

Doesnt matter what Sony says is inadequate if regulators think its adequate. That being said I think it was a starting point.

Theres no chance hes going to be like ā€œIm buying another publisherā€ while all of the regulators are listening.

Capitol Forum suggested that the FTC is preparing to vote on whether or not to challenge the Microsoft acquisition of Activision in December/January. They also said that it appears the staff may be leaning towards recommending a challenge based on the staff asking third parties for declarations by the end of October.

And they are gonna fail.

If you mean the challenge, I would agree. I dont even know why theyd challenge. Microsoft would smoke them in US court.

And it seems most competitors have no problems with the acquisition ( well except Sony of course ), but this is still speculation at the end. It is gonna pass.

So this is just about CoD then for games, eh?

Did they? As far as I saw they wanted the declarations from the third parties only.

I guess our jokes about CMA (or EU in that case) regulators having Playstation at home was not that far from truth. Also it shows why market share is important.

I guess it is again one of those cases where FTC is high on its anti-corporate supply.

Ricardo Cardoso“s Playstation must be protected.

Chances of Crash 5 on a few years down the line? Crash 4 is one of my favourite platformers ever.

We’re getting Wumpa League next year, chances of Crash 5 are quite low considering what activision has done to most of their teams. Microsoft would need to rescue them all if they havent already left.

This must be a joke, right? Who are this freakin people…

I think this person is with the EC but maybe not competition.

Honestly, my takeaway was that this might mean that CoD is the only focus and stuff like Blizzard titles would be free from any concessions. Seems some folks took things differently though.

The takeaway is that the organizations are run by humans and there are plenty of fanboys there. That’s why having a big marketshare is good - the people there might care more about Playstation and Xbox thus will be biased. Granted we have laws for a time being.
