Holy shit I just saw this on my phone, I thought it was a joke as first. I actually can’t believe they pulled the trigger on it
@Shpeshal_Nick @Sikamikanico Does this mean that an emergency podcast is in the works like the Bethesda one
Remember when I said they won’t acquire another publisher any time soon?
Yea, I do. Fuck me.
Activision owns the Sekiro IP, so yes it’s first party now.
Hi Game Pass
Dude this shit literally almost had me crash the car
$70B is ‘back of the sofa’ money for MS.
Fun fact - this means that Mike Ybarra, former VP of Xbox who left to goto Activision Blizzard, is now working once again for Xbox.
So Mike and Rod are back at Xbox? Haahahahahahahaha
a lot of these IPs are on a downwards trend like Overwatch or Starcraft or WoW.
Yeah you are right, i forgot about King. Still a lot of money.
And not just any publisher but arguably the biggest one. Satya and Phil really did just press the nuclear button here.
Not my first choice, but holy hell.
Hey I’m on leave. I’m free to.
To be fair if you told me they would buy Activison I would of been like ya OK haha
Thats a lot of new games for Game Pass
Good god
I’m pretty sure no one here actually “wanted” Activision for real but yes still holy shit
They can finally put a FromSoft game on Game Pass. $70B worth it tbh
So thats why Sekiro was on Phils shelf
It all makes sense
Yeah, that’s my first thought too.
Also their wording when the Bethesda deal was first announced was different. Just can’t see CoD being a exclusive, like at all. But we’ll see.
Yeah but Apples money never came from Office products. So its a win for them in that case as they not only get MS Office to make their devices/ecosystem more business friendly but they also get a cut of the price.
Sure Sony would get some of the GP sub but they lose out a chunk of gaming revenue. Along with that they are paying MS for Azure servers.
This is more similar to the Mojang Acquisition than the Bethesda one. They really seem to hammer in the fact that Activision games are going to be available on a variety of platforms.
How is Anti-trust going to let Microsoft through with this one though? This is a crazy large acquisition, remember that AT&T tried to acquire T-Mobile and that didn’t go through? Remember when comcast tried to buy time warner cable?
I feel like COD will be multiplat and they’ll state that for the regulators.
