Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

It’d be wierder if a deal this size didnt get reviewed by the government, its basically standard procedure.

Yeah, but good that it’s progressing to that point quickly. Also the main thing to notice is that it is the FTC and not the DOJ investigating

As expected, lets hope to get a fast response. @TavishHill What do you think? do you remember hoeg mentioning something about what this could potentially means?

You can never be absolutely certain about the deal being finalized. However, based on what Hoeg and others have said, this should go through without too many hiccups hopefully.

When do you expect Activision to be completed ?

Bethesda took 7 months, the Fox 15 months (though it was a little complicated + counterbid).

Wrong thread

We really don’t have a great comparison for this acquisition.

The investigations recently having been taking longer as the different areas try to crack down on big acquisitions. The Nuance acquisition is heading onto 9 months I think (though the US approved late summer last year).

I am already seeing fanboys in the comment section of Verge predicting that Microsoft can’t acquire anything for next few years due to some cool-off period regulations meanwhile Sony will buy Ubisoft, Capcom, SE lol :joy:

Lmao fanboys being delusional as usual I see

I’ll be more afraid of Tencent, FB, Amazon, and Netflix than anything.

My uneducated guess would be early next year.

I’ve always thought March-May 2023 depending on the different agencies that will look at it. Unfortunately if an agency does take a closer look that can take a few months as they all seem to be understaffed

It will still go through.
