Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Agreed, I swear some only play exclusives and avoid third party/indie titles like the plague.

Personally, I upgraded to a Series X in January and it’s been non-stop gaming ever since, in large part due to Game Pass. I understand personal preference and all that, but dry is not how I would describe Game Pass.

I was really enjoying these games in Game Pass.

Then I remembered that they weren’t an exclusive 1st party titles, so I immediately uninstlled them and unsubbed!

I’m starting to feel the drought now!

Perfect. Make sure that you tell us about it every day for the next 9 or 10 months too.

Well of course Game Pass has games because they are using it to fill in the gaps.(Just like how Sony uses indie games) Some months are winners and some are stinkers.I don’t think I’ve ever said that there is nothing to play. I’m just waiting for Xbox 1st Party to pop off and it’s still taking a long time.

To me the main draw of Game Pass is the potential 1st party games, everything else is secondary. I am in a very privileged position where I can buy a lot of games and most likely brought the non day 1 3rd party titles.

I know folks are tired of hearing it, but the games are coming. There is an absolute onslaught of games coming. We are going to have a lot to look forward to starting Q3/Q4 2022.

The thing is that “games” have already arrived with the second half of 2021 and I, until Gamescom, expected the flow would have never stopped anymore, because it’s so crucial for subscriptions (Sony and Nintendo business is different, so they can have dry periods, they also have a much better reputation), but when I didn’t see dates for early 2022 at Gamescom (the last possible moment), I got they are still unprepared, the lack of shows outside E3 is another confirmation. I hope 2023 is THE year.

With the amount of time you spend here, you should not have expected the flow to have continued from Q2/2022 on.

It’s not about what’s good for subscriptions, it’s about where the games are in their development process.

I was one of the first signaling the situation back in september here (and initially getting flak for it XD), so yes, I knew it very well. XD

Also, in case folks haven’t noticed, there’s been an unprecedented pandemic that’s ravaged industries across the economy. The impatience of so many just days after MS announced the largest acquisition in gaming history and months after their studios put out arguably 4 GOTY titles is very odd.

Plus there’s new SoT and ESO content on the way :green_heart:

Another thing is before when people said just wait for the games, Microsoft had 5 studios now they have/going to have over 30 so there is a big difference now being told to wait than 8 years ago. So when people say wait now for the games there are actual games coming to wait for and it’s not just endless waiting for the hope of games to come.

This last wait will be the last wait for games, then people will complain about too many games hehe

I hope it’s true, with 30+ studios plus global publishing full oiled, other half year holes would only mean one thing: mismanagement.

If we have any droughts like the last gen with 30 studios, I would be stunned and shocked. I can’t see a world where it was worse than the Xbox One generation when it comes to game output, for that to happen it would be a catastrophic failure.

I have zero doubts about us getting tons of games sooner rather than later.

To give teams enough time to complete their creative visions without working them to death burnout isn’t mismanagement.

Nah, with that amount of studios plus global publishing, the average time is 8 games each year with like 4 years of development time for every title. No burnout at all, not every game is RDR2 which needs 10 years.

Games can still not land on their target release dates, even with crunch. Indeed, most AAA games the last two years didn’t.

My stance is that Xbox can’t have the same releases of Sony or Nintendo (so 3-4-5 yearly games) with a double/triple 1st party organisation. It’s that simple.
