Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT4| - Dawn of the Final Day, Deal is done!

Microsoft does not get to decide the CMA’s decision.

LOL, that is not what I said. I said that I believe they would ultimately close over the CMA if somehow they continue to act unreasonable with proposed solutions. They cannot allow the UK to be a stop on their business worldwide with idiotic regulation, and I believe they would be okay in the UK due to either appeals tribunal or just government level interventions and other things IF that path had to be taken. I still think the CMA will likely accept a reasonable restructure because they will want to avoid additional trouble beyond that too.

Starting to have my doubts that the CMA are going to take up Microsoft’s proposal. I don’t like the rhetoric I’m hearing for the CMA in public.

If you were the CMA would you say we messed up in public or would you try save face?

What exactly do you expect them to say?

The rhetoric doesn’t come off as constructive. I’m not expecting them to say we messed up, but the rhetoric comes off as needlessly aggressive.

What are you talking about?

Lol, just don’t have a good feel about it.

This is literally the saving face part of the process. The FTC got destroyed in court by MS and the CMA’s final report is a similarly laughable document full of bad faith arguments that would get picked apart by the Microsoft lawyers. No guarantee MS would win, but it would still be an awful look for the CMA given how grotesque their final report is.

So now they can pose how strict they are and are only considering Microsoft’s proposal out of grace, while they’re likely fairly compliant behind the scenes.

I hope you’re right, but just have a feeling they are going to block no matter what.

I love how he says “unfortunately I dont have a good feeling about this”.

Unfortunately my ass.

Lowest quality concern trolling.

I never said “unfortunately”. I’m not concern trolling, I just have reservations about whether CMA is bringing a good faith effort toward their negotiations.

I don’t think the Tribunal will take very kindly to the CMA messing parties around. The whole idea of delaying the litigation was to work something out.

i am pretty sure CMA does not want to close the deal. I feel they will have to.

Keep those feelings in a box

That’s what I thought until I heard Sarah Cardell talk. She basically stating that the proposal from Microsoft has to be perfect or they won’t budge.

She’s just putting on for the public. The CAT meeting told us everything we need to know.

She did not say those words. She said that MS’s proposals will have to properly address their competition concerns, nothing about it being perfect.

For the original decision, they reportedly stopped communicating with MS in the last few weeks leading up to their block. And now, CMA will have to make sure they are communicating in good faith as CAT is also watching too.
