The rhetoric doesn’t come off as constructive. I’m not expecting them to say we messed up, but the rhetoric comes off as needlessly aggressive.

I actually like this. I didn’t want the CMA to go unscathed after this whole ordeal and the fact that they still want to advertise their incompetence and the fact that the UK will be a bad place to go business as long as they still exist… We couldn’t have scripted this any better.

Other have mentioned an estimated 20% chance of the CMA pulling a fast one on Xbox. I’d say that’s about right. Anything lower fails to take into consideration their previous conduct.

They know they are probably beaten but they absolutely have not changed their minds on this acquisition. If they could block it, they would. So an 80% degree of confidence sounds about right.

Also, regarding the staffing issue they have. That is their fault. Frankly, if they cannot maintain the staff to properly regulate the market, they need to be prevented from blocking deals until that is no longer the case.

I doubt we get more than ‘were still extremely confident that it will close’ lol. The earnings have never really had more than that from what I remember.

While true, it is possible since they’re in the endgame and not “still working in middle of download.” They don’t have to say anything too depth, just probably reflect on when they should expect the closing.

I actually think this will end up being the quietest period of the entire acquisition. MS/CMA are both going to be working together for a change, whilst neither want anything leaking or want to make any public pronouncements/declarations. They are not working against each other or trying to convince any third parties/public at this point. So they have nothing to gain from going public.

As soon as we either hear there is a deal or talks have collapsed, then there’s likely to be radio silence.
