Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

We’re getting into confusing territory for me lol, I’m not exactly sure if they’ll close next week or not either.

Can’t wait for the CMA to make me, a Brit Gamer, pay more for ABK content on Game Pass Ultimate. :unamused:

At least we’re one the final stage now of this epic, Apple-TV-worthy saga, after another well-deserved loss for the FTC. Maybe, just maybe, they should try arguing with facts instead of ideology and an obsession of Big-Tech-Bad?

“Oh no Mr CMA, we would Neeeeever close over you! but yeah if we don’t come to an agreement by 3 your time monday all bets are off”

I know right, just watch someone else come out of nowhere to start some shit, haha. But it sounds like chances of that happening are pretty much zero. So even if it takes a bit longer it’s OK, things are looking good. Or maybe Monday it’s finally done.

It’s shocking to me that ABK has 17k staff now…

Just enjoy the weekend. Lol.

Why would you risk angering the CMA? There is no reason to not wait a few weeks since now the FTC can’t block in that timescale.

Because it sounds like there is no pressure to close after the FTC defeat. What is a few more weeks to close on good terms?

First order of business is to tell Sledgehammer, Treyarch, and IW to pull those old drawings and pitch ideas that were too wacky for COD back out. Gets those guys and gals out of the COD mines. They might be sitting on some untapped gold.

Both CDPR and Larian have more History with Microsoft than Sony. Both have more history with PC than console.

IMO. If they were to sell? Microsoft has first dib over Sony.

What about the July 18 deadline and 3 billion fee?

What is the possibility that Jim doesn’t want to have the CoD marketing agreement anymore, and Phil and him mutually rescind the contract.

If I were Jim I wouldn’t want to market a game that my competitor will make 80% of the revenue from.

FT says they have sources from both companies that an agreement to extend has been reached I believe.

People have been focusing on the share price and how it is almost at the agreed price. Well that makes sense because that is what ABK and Microsoft valued them at and investors are just getting more confident of the deal going through.

If it were to collapse, I guarantee the share price would as well, so it is still in investors’ best interest for the deal to go through.

I would assume there is information we dont know, im not going to second guess MS on their decissions given everything they have navigated so far has been incredible really.

I obviously have no insight, but in the past month it seemed to me Microsoft was waiting to be done with the FTC in order to close the deal before the deadline. Meaning they’d close over the CMA regardless.

Don’t know how these things work but what I do know is they won’t risk billions of dollars on a “trust me bro”. If I had to bet I’d bet the deal is closed by the 18th. They’ll risk angering the CMA before they risk risking the deal.

Wasnt the financial times the one to report on April 24th that the CMA was going to approve the deal? I’m taking everything they say about this whole thing with a grain of salt.

The day has finally come for this scenario to play out…

With sales numbers of PS5 2:1 over Xbox, let’s face it. A lot of casuals depend on the media and their ‘knowledgeable gamer friend’ to inform their console purchase decision. Going to be some blindsided casuals. Starfield will be when the casuals realize they’ve been misinformed by the “trusted experts”. Then Call of Duty on Gamepass will really get them regretting their ps5 purchase.

According to today’s FT MS have not yet made any new offers to the CMA

Maybe, that meeting on Monday won’t be a slam dunk for a deal? We’ll have to wait and see.

Monday will determine if we get early access or full release.
