If Microsoft wins: Nice, now we can move on to more fun things.
If Microsoft loses: Aight, can we move on to more fun things now?

Took him 8 months to realize that?
So much for that marketing deal for sony when they have the same amount of players as xbox in a per console comparison.
If they win, then itâs good, logical and fair.
If not, then itâs sad that nonsense wins, but as a player it doesnât make much difference to me. (my gaming preference gains much more from previous acquisitions)
Also, it was a very unique opportunity that no one expected from MS or ABK, so them not succeeding in it will bring us back to the normal state of things.
And I remember it was a great time, when they aquired many great studios and then came Zenimax megaton from nowhere. Many thought that was enough, at least for a while. But now that ABK (or other big publisher) seems possible, suddenly itâs not enough anymore.
Been thinking Nintendo probably donât like this haha.
I said the same thing the other day lol.
Hopefully good news for once. Iâve been following this since announce, heck I even joined the Xbox era forum to follow it more closely with like minded people. I know the fear from people of getting about the PI is from a small questioning the judge did to MS but even that isnât sufficient. Anyways , is tiring.
Hopefully it gets blocked and Xbox gets shut down
Not exactly relevant to this acquisition directly, but this is an interesting parallel that could potentially be something similar that happens with the UK. Now, this is a little different because Illumina closed while EC was investigating. We are potentially looking at Microsoft closing while the CMA finished their investigation and made a decision but it is mid appeal. Here we see Illumina is already planning to appeal any fines, which Id also expect Microsoft to do with the CMA.
Interesting! I didnât realise they were now simply recommendations and not legally binding. It does seem pretty pointlessâŚ
So hopefully just the CMA later this month and potentially AUS/NZ?
Ah sorry I misunderstood, I know they are meant to be independent but based on how they keep delaying I canât help but think itâs related to the CMA/FTC rulings. It will still be interesting to see if they try and do anythingâŚ
Yeah, its completely bonkers what the FTC setup, a process that has no purpose but to take up even more time.
On June 2nd, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (âthe FTCâ) announced modifications to its in-house adjudicative proceedings. Under these new rules, an administrative law judge (âALJâ) presiding over an administrative hearing can only issue ârecommendedâ decisions that are reviewed automatically by the FTC Commissioners (the âCommissionâ). The Commission, during their now-automatic review, may affirm the recommended decision in full or reject the decision, in whole or in part, and issue its own decision adopting different findings of fact or conclusions of law. Before the Commission acts on an ALJâs recommended decision, it must provide the parties with an opportunity to submit a brief that states any exceptions to the decision.
Previously, an ALJ rendered an âinitialâ decision that became the FTCâs final order unless a party or the Commission sought review of the decision. These changes are not subject to a notice and comment period and will become final upon publication in the Federal Register.
This is the rumored day of verdict. Considering there are 5 working days for appeal, not counting subsequent judgment days (?), and that the deal closure is tuesday the week after, the window for the verdict is quite short.
I think given the complexity of this - length of hearing that the judge will need more time. It is unfortunate but Iâm expecting it Friday at a guess. These decisions need to be meticulous and referenced with legal precedent. That takes time sadly.
It would be next week then, her docket is fully booked after today.
Will be interesting if it is⌠Monday will cutting it quite short for MS (factoring in the appeal notice), unless they have already extended their deadline with ABK.
Nice, lets get this nonsense over with finally
So much time wasted, oh well, SEGA it is
Iâm gonna be enjoying truckloads of salt from Sony boys if it succeeds, not gonna lie. But of course mostly it will be great to see what happens to existing and new IP. Let the CoD factory stop and have teams work on other stuff.
If not, ah well. Then yeah, Sega it is.
I think anyone who thinks Microsoft are really going to reduce COD in a significant way are off their rockers. The numbers are clear.
They might go to a 2 yearly release cycle but there will be no less resource available. Its a cash cow and they want to milk it hard.
I think weâve seen enough to know that any dream that all these studios will be put onto new and exclusive projects is highly, highly unrealistic.
