I have all my faith in MS/ABK’s lawyers, they’ll blow the FTC out the water, I have no doubt about it. This deal is too important, the prophecy has to be fulfilled and ABK made a part of Xbox Games Studios.

Article is a year old. Game was playable 1.5 years ago. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it announced and released within 6 months.

A developer who was the co-lead on it from 2019-2021 said this "This is a project that will have a big impact on the industry”.

Supposedly stylized graphics similar to everwilds trailer. Survival game.

Will be awesome to see Microsoft get this day one on gamepass. Still expect it to release on ps5, and possibly switch even.

Imagine the impact this would have as the first exclusive after the purchase though. Would be a huge get for Xbox.

Ya but I highly doubt they would do that if the game is nearly done. If it were to happen then obviously the deal needs to go through before the games announced.

Edit-

I was looking at some of the court documents. Microsoft has said that they intend for acti-blizzard to act independently much in the same way Mojang does.

So do I think the games will come to gamepass day one, yes I do. But will there be exclusives, I dont think so. The two new Minecraft games where both multiplatform.

Unless theres an announcement of platforms before the buyout or a pre existing agreement, theres zero expectation for MS to release a game multiplatform. They gladly canned the Ps5 versions of Redfall and Starfield. Even if the game was in a done state I would put money on Microsoft scrapping a PS5 and Switch version

If Diablo 4 wasnt released and had no announced platforms, guarantee MS would have made that exclusive too. Same with Crash Rumble

Mojang is under Xbox Game Studios, ABK would be akin to Zenimax, and working independent doesnt really mean much because theyll still answer to Phil. He has the final say of what goes where

Anything not COD related will be

When Brad Smith was announcing those partnerships with Nvidia and the other cloud platforms, he specifically said that all Xbox games including ABK, Bethesda and XGS games would come to those platforms

When the agreement with Nintendo was announced, it specifically only mentioned COD and nothing else

Yes you are right. But Microsoft has specifically mentioned that acti-blizzard will act independently as MOJANG.

Phil allows Mojang to do what they want. They don’t even abide by play anywhere like other Xbox devs. Yes they are apart of Microsoft but still somewhat seperate from Xbox. Games launch on gamepass but still release on PlayStation.

Microsoft has also said call of duty will release on PlayStation and Nintendo which is essentially all of activision. So combine that with the independence statements makes me assume all games will be multiplat. Of course I’m all for the blizzard games being exclusive but I doubt it.

You can state non call of duty will be exclusive like it’s a fact. But it isn’t.

In fact Microsoft own court documents contradicts that entirely.

Agreements for Nvidia and cloud platforms

Agreements for Nintendo

https://twitter.com/BradSmi/status/1629180356359495680?t=qCoFTren06wTS-4QtfTdUA&s=19

One includes all Xbox games, the other specifically states COD

Brad Smith even had to correct andnset the redcord straight on Nintendo because people assumed all games would come to Switch and Brad had to clarify and state the agreement is for COD only

Also Microsoft no longer has to offer Sony any 10 year deal because every regulator including the CMA dismissed console concern and Microsoft can take COD off Playstation after 2024 (they wont because its financially a bad move)

If theres no agreement or announcement pre acquisitions theres zero reason to believe any none COD game would be multiplat

You say yourself they won’t take COD off PlayStation because it would be a bad financial move.

Doesn’t the same thing apply to a new game that the size of WOW or Diablo?

Wow isnt on consoles so theres nothing to take away and Diablo comes out once a decade

The difference is that Warcraft and Diablo only release a new mainline game per decade, while COD is a yearly title.

Also Blizzard franchises are more popular on PC than on consoles, while COD is more popular on consoles.

I doubt theyll make anything that has any live service element to it off other platforms if this transaction gies through. Its less risky monetarily. It also becomes a key thing to point to for future acquisitions.

I would include this blizzard survival game and the ZeniMax Online MMORPG in that category. Put them everywhere.

“It depends” is probably the best answer to this since we don’t really know what the game is and whether it’s intention is to make recurring revenue or not.

A lot of people didn’t think MS would make Starfield and the next Elder Scrolls exclusive, yet here we are.

That’s irrelevant and you’re dodging.

Diablo and wow are multibillion dollar franchises. Would it make financial sense for Microsoft to keep the next multibillion dollar blizzard IP off PlayStation? I’m not so sure.

Its very relevant and neither Diablo nor Wow are as big as COD or Minecraft

Todd just confirmed Skyrim sold over 60M copies yet Elder Scrolls 6 isnt coming to Playstation or Switch, but will come to Steam and cloud platforms

That gives us a good indicator that Microsoft is willing to make massive franchises exclusive

How is that a different question than Starfield?

It definitely makes financial sense yes. It won’t happen short term with stuff already released obviously, but when the next Diablo is released in 10 years I can definitely see it being Xbox and PC only.

Also, if Wow does come to consoles it’ll definitely be exclusive to Xbox. Would be a good counter to FF14 actually. I’d definitely get back into a 1440p 60fps HDR ready console release or wow.
