Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

I don’t think they intentionally did a bad port, but they did (intentionally) release a bad port. They knew what state it was in when they released it.

Yeah that one just boils down to Sony wanting to rush it out to capitalise on the show

But it also kind of shows how they feel about PC, they’d never release the PS version in that state and they clearly knew how bad it was before they launched it

This is a throwback to an old Dring article, but I think its so laughable that at one point Dring called Microsoft Trumpian when Sony has been the one bringing these absolute insane claims and screaming and crying from the start only getting louder and louder any time aomething doesnt go their way.

Where are the articles talking about that

Normally I’d totally agree with you.

But if Sony’s responses to the CMA are anything to go by, “normal” is an alien concept over at SIE headquarters. PC isn’t some sort of unknown tech, i.e. even the most indie of indie developers release PC ports without a hiccup. The Last of Us Remake is also a recent title with a later PC port factored in during its production, i.e. we’re not talking about the PS3 Cell version of the first game but the very recent remake.

Something whacky happened & it’s a toss-up regarding the how, why & when the decision was made to release the game in its current condition.

Interesting to make these claims when they just released one of the worst ports to the PC .

It really is embarrassing now, from Sony and Jim Ryan.

As others have alluded to, MS seems to be negotiating in parallel with both EU and CMA now and the focus appears to be refining their remedies as opposed to trying to convince them that remedies are possible. The door is firmly open now. Sony have been squarely pushed out of the way.

All that is left now is for MS to make some final concessions and this is all over.

No one would play a horrific port and run out and buy a PS5. It damages the brand and as a PC player you would just think they…well they arent great developers.

I would think the opposite is true, if you release quality, people will be drawn to your brand further, and might consider picking up a ps5 over the next pc upgrade.

Especially with the inconsistent release schedule of PC ports for Sony, you might be waiting a year or you might end up waiting much longer - it’s all very much set up to direct people towards buying into the console ecosystem.

Sony finally convinced me the deal should be blocked. It’s clearly not good for Jim Ryan’s mental health.

I want to say what Sony is doing is hilarious, but, it’s not. It’s sad. Really, REALLY, sad. They scrapped the bottom of the barrel so furiously they poked a hole in it.

Well at least that 24% is a bit more realistic than Microsofts 4 % figure.

Could you kindly stop accusing forum members of being “conspiracy theorists”? You tend to do so a lot and it’s past the point of being acceptable. Just because you don’t agree with someone’s take doesn’t make it a conspiracy theory, especially when people are simply pointing to real world examples as supplements to the asinine positions Sony has taken.

According to Sony, it’s the countdown to apocalypse.

Sure it damages the brand, it’s just a matter of fact though all potential buyers need do is google “last of us PS5 digital foundry” & bingo, a tech review which shows the game running perfectly on PS5 (at least much better than on PC). Its PC launch also came within context of many other PC releases suffering from all sorts of problems so PC hasn’t had a good time recently with certain well communicated problems in some high profile releases (shader compiling issues is a common complaint).

What I really think though is Sony & Jim Ryan are full of public relations bluster & that’s all. It’s all huff & puff publicly about the Activision deal just to appease shareholders, their fanboys & make it look like they’re fighting Microsoft. Privately I’m pretty sure they know this deal is done & they’re also cynical enough to know their complaints have zero merit (like searching for old forum posts to use as evidence…).
