Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

Yeah they’re really desperate now.

On another note this is pretty concerning consider how DF/Eurogamer have been a bit weird towards Xbox lately. They’ve done studies on whether DF videos have an impact on purchasing decisions? Why is there studies in that, are Sony trying to influence them?

By way of example, within a week of releasing Modern Warfare II, Digital Foundry, a leading analyst, compared performance on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Another industry specialist, VG Tech, compared the frame rates of Modern Warfare II across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.23 Studies show that these types of comparisons are highly influential. As shown in the figure below, the level of social conversation surrounding consoles and games is extremely high.

Might as well add in “Impure” while they’re at it.

At least we’ve got a real console war now… for real. Not just militant Sony fanboys assaulting people online, no, a real living CEO of a multinational corporation acting like the biggest console warrior ever (Jim Ryan).

No blast processing this time, although Sony could clearly do what Xboxdon’t, which in this case would be making a fool out of themselves in front of the entire world.

Sony appealing the CMA’s decision (is that even possible?) would be something for the history books. Documentaries will be made about this console war post-mortem.

Foss said it is, but doesnt usually change the result and also does nothing to prevent the enyities from closing at which time divestiture would pretty much be out the window.

Sony sounds desperate as fuck

All this bitching from them is sad at this point.

You have Bungie, one of the best FPS maker. Put them on a Killzone reboot and stop crying about COD.

If i’m MS i call their bluff. Offer them COD in exchange for all of their gaming studios and IP’s, and since they can’t recover without COD, Jim cannot turn that deal down

If your entire business is based on a single franchise (from an external publisher I might add), then it’s time to ask yourself if there is something wrong with the gaming division, dear Jim…

I mean… Jez, I’d say it’s pretty obvious they are already doing so with titles they have marketing rights to (again we have court docs heavily implying this to be the case from Apple v Epic) and TLOU’s PC port isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement to the contrary, especially since Naughty Dog brought it back in-house.

Maybe Phil and Co. can use our forum in a rebuttal to the CMA on the very point, complete with @strawman’s succinct captures of the PC port headlines

Sony : we’re already doing it to them but what if they do it to us ??

I didn’t think Sony could embarrass themselves even more, but I was wrong…lmao.

Quoting Reddit and Giantbomb forum posts? Holy shit.

Edit: FROM A DECADE AGO?!

Yeah. I think (candidly) Sony might have deliberately released Last of Us Remake on PC with the goal of ensuring only people with insanely expensive machines could run it properly & everyone else might default to thinking “oh well, I’ll buy a PS5 instead”. Call me paranoid but there’s just no way Naughty Dog didn’t know what state their game was in.

Now whether they went too far with this plan & screwed the game entirely is another matter but from a business perspective (& considering Jim Ryan’s wailings over the Activision deal) do I think these guys are capable of this sort of wacko 4D Chess? Maybe.
