I don’t even think Xbox need China, i mean Xbox Live is banned in china, hell the whole western web is banned there lol. I think Netease and Blizzard already end their relationship. My guess, won’t have much impact at all.
China State run police/business and total censorship on anything and everything is just to much.
They’re undoubtedly going to offer the same package to both. Once both approve I’m sure they will offer the same package to the FTC for good faith and to keep remedies the same everywhere across the board (like they said they wanted to do). If the FTC still wants to play hardball due to a political agenda and “big tech bad” then Microsoft will close over them and hand them their asses in Federal court.
Yeah I know that’s what I was saying, I think this could mean CMA are going to accept remedies and this change could be the first hint they’re gonna accept them. Also yeah I don’t see them not offering the same deal to CMA and whoever is left because they might as well and it will look super bad on FTC if they don’t accept them but everyone else does. I hope Microsoft doesn’t bother with the FTC bs if they don’t accept just close over them and get it done with haha.
I wonder how long they’ll leave a gap before they head to Japan for a purchase
The FTC have been doing this for a while, it’s just seems to be more egregious under Lina Khan. It’s one of the reasons Axon took the FTC to the Supreme Court arguing that they violate their 5th amendment rights. The FTC has ruled on its own behalf 100% of the time for the last 30 odd years.
Yikes Sony are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel, they’re trying to say people buy the game for the SP and they’re trying to push that because Microsoft and CMA said people who play 10 hours or less, or spend $100 won’t switch consoles.
Third, the cinematic single-player campaign length of Call of Duty is around 6-8 hours.10 The single-player campaign of Call of Duty is one of its most compelling elements that is valued by gamers.11
Also isn’t this pretty much all the arguments Sony are making, speculation pretty much.
This conjecture is not consistent with the CMA’s duty to base its decisions on evidence rather than speculation.12
After reading through these documents (including reading all the unintentionally hilarious & unprofessional Sony bile) I reiterate once again the fact the Redfall dev should never ever have openly admitted there was a PS5 version of the game at one point. And predictably, Sony mentioned this is their response in the CMA. It won’t change anything of course but it was a bit of a foot-in-mouth moment.
As for Sony, they’re predictably dishonest. I also get the impression they’ll likely get pretty angsty when the first Microsoft owned Call of Duty lands & tech comparison video from Digital Foundry & co are released. It’s absurd but they seem pretty hellbent on pushing the narrative that anything other than total perfect performance on PlayStation will be a deliberate crime of some sort by Microsoft to sabotage the PlayStation brand.
Third, Microsoft has nonetheless deployed Minecraft exclusivity where it suits its strategic interests. In particular, Microsoft has blocked Chrome OS’s access to Minecraft’s consumer edition, instead making available only Minecraft: Education Edition, a version intended for students and teachers (not consumers). This evidences Microsoft’s intentions to withdraw games from rival platforms when it
Yeah the Harvey thing was a stupid thing to say, with or without an acquisition in progress but the CMA were already aware of MS making those games exclusive
They don’t care since it’s different to CoD
Sony continue to get more embarrassing with every response
Sony release the worst PC port in years of their biggest title then say that if MS shipped an even slightly degraded version of CoD on PS it would damage their reputation so much they would go out of business.
I think Sony might be fishing for some form of concession in the deal on the basis of an independent regulator of some sort ensuring legal tech parity in COD… which is utter farcical nonsense from every conceivable standpoint considering the differences in internal components between consoles.
No game in the history of gaming as ever released absolutely identical across all platforms. It’s simply impossible. There’s always something, i.e. a dropped frame here or there, or a texture which looks different.
But once the deal passes they’ll likely shut up about this considering if COD did release on PlayStation with some sort of performance hiccup, Sony would be well advised to not go shouting “our PS version sucks!” from the rooftops. It would become a self-fulfilling prophecy at that point, i.e. Sony would shoot themselves in the foot if they cried publicly about a degraded experience on PlayStation.
As the CMA is aware, since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax, Microsoft announced that future ZeniMax titles – including Starfield, Elder Scrolls VI, and Redfall – will be Xbox exclusives. In so doing, Microsoft reversed assurances made prior to the ZeniMax acquisition that Microsoft “would not have the incentive to cease or limit making ZeniMax games available for purchase on rival consoles”17 and statements that it “highly encourage[s] cross-platform play [because] if it’s good for the gaming ecosystem, it’s good for us… What we’ll do in the long run is we don’t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony.
Cmon Sony, none of those games except Redfall are even multiplayer games, you can’t cross play because there is no way to do it. Also when Microsoft says cross platform being good and wanting to do it, they are talking about multiplayer with matchmaking mostly. Redfall does support cross platform just not on Sony consoles
