Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

Btw this is nothing new, the FTC in house judge is mostly for show since they can always override them and have done so multiple times. Thats what the Supreme court is looking at right now about that process.

The CMA have updated their page today - looks like the deadline for any submissions ahead of the final report is next Wednesday.

Endgame.

Here on continental Europe, we can observe a huge tsunami wave on the horizon coming from the direction of London. It’s rumored to consist almost exclusively of Jim Ryan’s fake tears.

Um, there’s only 1 person who would likely do that and I’m pretty sure most don’t want them as president again.

Who? do you mean Trump, last i check he is facing criminal charges lol

I just want someone who does their job and is not corrupt.

This current FTC is not it.

The other potential Republican candidate would likely install an FTC focused on destroying Disney

Let’s be honest, Trump has a better chance of getting elected from jail as an independent than DeSantis does of getting elected as a Republican.

I mean this is the default way how in house cases go.

The current FTC regime are just going blindly to block any big tech whatever the facts. Completely antithetical to the history of M&A regulation. Not surprised people are quitting when things have lurched to being so unprofessional so quickly.

When do we get the final decision on this? Wasn’t it gonna be before June?

Grabbed this from FOSS Patents blog around 2 weeks ago, so it could be slightly old info, but I’ve been using it to get a general idea of the timeline.

May 22nd is EC deadline, CMA is April 26th. SAMR just paused theirs, so it is indefinite. FTC ALJ trial is July, but if Microsoft moved to close then the FTC would have to get a federal injunction or theyd have to make a case at the ALJ to force MSFT to divest Activision after the close which is even harder.

Seems like Microsoft has modified remedies.

If that’s the case, then MS will offer the same to the CMA as well.

Maybe they are working together :eyes:

Glad to see MS still doing more, thought the deals were the last thing we would hear from them. I think this is related to the 10 years contract an area the CMA said back then they didnt seem soo pleased.

Extend the time in EC and do the same in UK.

Agreed, Microsoft doesn’t seem like they’re letting off the gas even at the very end. They’re on top of their game.

It’s probably more that there’s no point in offering less in one jurisdiction than the other. If CMA comes up with some concerns that weren’t brought up by EC than you may as well resolve it for both to improve chances of it passing.

What’s the consensus on the Chinese freeze right now on the deal? Is China necessary for ABK and Ms to consummate ? Wonder if China might be using this as some type of leverage in current trade wars?
