Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

I’m hoping that all the full/timed exclusivity deals that Sony has gets revealed/leaked because I want to know what it all is. What I can avoid, what I know I have to play on PlayStation and what I know I can wait for to play on Xbox.

I should’ve said Microsoft and not regulators, but the main hope is them getting leaked to the public.

Even if this deal gets blocked by the CMA, Sony does not get away with anything. They still need to produce these documents.

How do you know MS would fight this just as hard? I’d guess they have nothing to hide and would show them no bother.

Insecure fanboy revenge fantasy over the possibility that the CMA kills the deal. Because in their head, Microsoft is fully willing to drop all business in one of the most important markets in the world over a division that has done little more than cost them money for two decades. A market which, by the way, is pretty much one of only two in which Xbox has any decent presence in.

MS won’t pull out of UK if CMA blocks the deal. Let’s stop entertaining this stupid idea in this thread. The deal will just simply get blocked and MS can appeal if they choose to but it won’t make much of a difference.

Very few, if anyone is arguing this as a possibility at this point, at least not in this thread

Microsoft has been hiding xbox sales for years now, obviously they would hide any kind of document if they were in the same situation.

Sony is such a miserable, coward and shady company. I would like to say that I am not surprised they don´t want to provide documents because “they are in Japanese” but I can´t. I am surprised. It is like my brain can´t process being so fucking awful.

How do they moneyhat Japanese games from Japanese publishers without knowledge of Japanese.

They know they can’t stop it. All they can do at this point is dragging their feet to delay the deal to pass. They are worried indeed.

One thing that was said in Destin’s interview was this could potentially lead to class action lawsuits against Sony.

They have already provided all this information. They knew what they were getting into with this purchase, it wasn’t done unknowingly.

It’s weird when people are like 10 pages back in a thread and just randomly comment based on that.

Yes, because they are the ones buying ABK. If this was reversed and sony was the one buying ABK and wanting Microsoft to show data, they would not provide it.

You guys forget how Xbox was when they dominated the market and how quickly they changed as soon as they didnt.

Ok so we’re just making up scenarios now. Even then I still disagree, I don’t think they would have an issue showing these contracts. I don’t think they have been blocking content for any longer than a few months and only from indies.

Who’s arguing this in the thread, this is out of nowhere.

Its assuming a lot of hypotheticals, like…

A) opposing the deal vehemently in the first place. Sony must have known this was a risk (Ironically the class action lawsuit makes this even worse for Sony)

B) Xbox aggressively moneyhatting/blocking titles from Sony and general ‘abuse’ of marketshare. Did Xbox do this at its height? I don’t know I’m fairly new to the Xbox brand in general.

MS or Xbox is not a saintly company, I don’t think anyone would argue that. But I don’t think the current Xbox would abuse their market position as badly as Sony has in the last 6-8 years, primarily because of the potential regulatory fallout that is happening right now (MS has talked about how every company has their day in court).

Sure not wanting to produce records is normal in a broad sense, but Sony isn’t on trial here nor are they defending themselves where it would be obvious they’d want to limit information as much as possible. Sony is technically the plaintiff here so they should be producing information here to help their case/complaint. The problem is Sony is arguing in bad faith so they don’t really have documents to willingly submit, everything is going to make them look bad hence the need to push back on the requests. They pushed back on the requests by the court also.

This is why there are those who are analyzing the case stating this might have been a miscalculation on Sony’s part with them going too far. They jumped in to support the CMA/FTC hoping it be blocked without them getting too involved. Now it’s “wait, no…not like that”. Now we probably won’t see any of this stuff unless it leaks BUT some of it might come out if this goes to an actual trial in federal court.

Valve, Nintendo, Nvidia all played this cool and came away with some (potential) deals.

Hiding xbox numbers is no way near the same thing as 3rd party contracts. If ms were forced to do that they wouldnt give a shit.

Sure MS wouldn’t want their private dealings getting out, but you assume MS would try to block the deal in the same way Sony has. Look at Google, I’m not even sure if we have official word they are one of the parties opposed to this deal. We can only assume they are being super quiet or cautious about their opposition. How about Apple? These companies probably don’t like the deal one bit but they are going to keep quiet as far as regulators go for obvious reasons.

Similarly I doubt MS would go the Sony route if they had anything to hide. This is why some analysts are saying Sony might be making a big mistake here.
