Microsoft Acquiring Zenimax/Bethesda

Starfield announcement for xbox and pc on gamepass and for ps they just say “you guys don’t have phones?”

But on a serious note, the first 2-3 years are the driver for where people do their upgrades for hardware (and their friends with them). Until summer next year it will be all the core fans of your brand with their heist to get a box. xbox and sony both will be selling very well in the beginng. I hope microsoft don’t play the good guy in regards to game releases, give the fans the games and drop it 1 year later on other consoles. market your dedicated plattform and that is and still will be xbox. but that’s just a pc player perspective.

I do think Sony has more to go but I feel like this potentially takes the all the wind out of all those deals. It’s one of the biggest deals they could have made. It gives MS leverage if Sony goes too hard on moneyhatting. So much craziness.

Yep plus 7.5b$ in cash just shows how serious and agressive MS is and send a strong signal to everybody in the competition whether it is Sony, Amazon, Google Apple that claws are out!

I said it’s one of the biggest deals they could have made but that GREATLY undersells the situation. This is one of the biggest acquisitions in gaming history. Full stop.

Amazing! Thank you!

I wish I was in the discord or on Era now. They’d be some world class trolling going on

Nobody said anything bad when Sony bought Insomniac…Only when MS does it!

Insomniac, while big, was leagues below this in scope.

There are going to be a bunch victory laps taken on this one. I don’t think they should but there will be.

“Gamepass has only shovelware and AA games”

I have always been a believer of Gamepass. It is the future!

I would add Sony’s moves (“marketing”) in addition to the fan base. Agreed, I have zero empathy but I have no malice either. I hope to let it subside and hopefully find a happy place where neither side is a kid rubbing toys in the others face then yelling “don’t touch my stuff!”.

Mike is so right on here. I would not like to see games taken away from players on platforms where there is already an expectation. But in the future, these studios along with other XBOX studio will make new games, new IP, and I certainly expect them to be for primarily XBOX ecosystem and Windows PC.

Having said all that, I have not been happy to see what's been happening with timed exclusivity or with holding characters there by changing the game markedly.

To be the Netflix of Gaming, you need content on a regularly cadence, and that means MSFT will need more teams and sign limited exclusivity. And I am expecting this for both XBOX/PC but also mobile going forward.

If you're going to address the 2B+ gamers, then you need a very diverse set of games, and scope and cost.

Wtf Sony buying Rockstar Games!?

Massive news. Personally, I much prefer this over the rumored WB Games acquisition. With IPs which have a storied history such as Doom / Quake, with talented teams which have produced the Elder Scrolls / Fallout, and will produce Starfield, this is a huge get for Microsoft.

I’m also incredibly happy to see that there is finally a Japanese studio as part of Xbox Game Studios! Mikami is a huge talent.

Microsoft have a great set of studios now. The only thing which would make it perfect would be if they are able to add one more talented Japanese team such as Kojima or Platinum.

Lol I noticed it too few days ago
