Microsoft Acquiring Zenimax/Bethesda

I just did a count. SIE has 13 studios, XGS has 23. WOW, talk about flipping the narrative from just 3 years ago.

Crazy thing is MS were looking at WB, and surely this deal was happening then, so MS were considering WB in addition to this

the IPs, the engines, the technologies…

like you guys remember Orion? the cloud streaming technology they presented last E3?

WB would have been the same or slightly larger. Frankly this is a better set of IP and technology.

It’s a good thing I just bought 5 months of GPU, otherwise this deal wouldn’t have happened.

Zero chance MS allow games like Starfield and Fallout 5 to be multiplat, just wishful thinking. All they will do is stick Fallout 76 and ESO on PS5, some minor stuff on Switch and that’s it.

Personally I want more 3rd person, fixed-camera games like the upcoming Tunic, 12 minutes, The Last Night. Moving camera(1st or 3rd person) makes me dizzy.

Must admit that I’m happy with the news today. Especially as PS5 got two games from Zenimax (timed) exclusive. Had a bit of fear this would happen to Wolfenstein as well. And Im a huge fan of the Machinegames Wolfenstein games. Best gunplay Ive played this generation, together with Rage 2. And now… I can play them en the sequels via Game Pass. Crazy times.

Great point. Here I’ve been hoping Xbox would pick up Crytek to add CryEngine to Game Stack, and here they now have idTech as the possible substitute. This whole thing has so many implications, and so many of them are positive; even for those titles that will be on PS4 and PS5

Just thinking about, bethesda studios apply xbox game studios philisophy and these studios can also work with smaller teams on passion projects now to feed gamepass with weird new stuff. i look at you Roundhouse Studios give me the headhunter prey 2.

That and Id Tech could have played a massive part in the decision.

Did you not see this coming? I thought this wasn’t a complete surprise for you.

The Bethesda acquisition talks seemingly started back in 2018.

All media is consolidating. If MS didn’t do this, Sony may of or Google/Amazon. Possibly even Facebook.

It’s going to be a warzone soon enough when streaming takes off.
