Much, MUCH better because it includes all those IPs.
Honestly, your last paragraph says it all. Who cares if the games get released onto other platforms, they are all going to be released on Game Pass, so I am just sitting here with a massive smile on my face knowing I made the right choice to subscribe to it.
I don’t think its anything more than the Xbox App releasing on mobile
BOOM motherfuckers BOOM!!! LOL.
I get up, go online and see this. This is truly a “holy fuck” moment. I like some of Bethesda’s games but not all of them but this is a paradigm shift in this industry and shows that Microsoft isn’t fucking around.
Now, if im Spencer and Microsoft, I tell Sony thanks for that exclusive payment but we just refunded it back to your account. Thanks but no thanks.
I’m expecting the vast majority of their games to be XBOX exclusive from this point forward.
Phil Spencer always a class act. On the other side Jim Ryan …
No offense to anyone, but you can tell who can only see things as console vs console in their reactions to this news (looking at other places too). It’s like some people can’t even fathom MS still releasing games on other platforms.
I don’t think they spent 7.5B on an exclusivity play for the Xbox. This is about making sure Xbox/PC/XCloud/Gamepass has access to tons of content. I don’t think they mind leveraging money coming in from PS or Switch to do that.
i instantly thought of inception when i saw this news. sony=cobb, buying the timed exclusivity. MS=sato buying full studios… ‘thought it would be simpler’
Xbox has Windows, Xbox and xCloud. I doubt any future games will be released on platforms other than Microsoft’s. Minecraft is a platform on itself…there is no game like that - that’s why it will be the only true multiplatform game from MS ever.
Elder Scrolls 6 exclusive and in game pass. PS5 can get Skyrim remaster lol
Exactly. As others have pointed out, this probably had more to do with fending off Google/Amazon/TenCent than any attempt to put the screws to Sony.
checks pulse
…i um…i think i neednto sit down…
That’s true.
On RE I saw some comments like Sony buying Take Two. Yeah , I don’t really see that happening . Sony seems to be more about these timed deals, that may change after this. It’s clear that Sony was playing it small and MS played it big.
Known about it for hours now. Still shocked.
Hey folks - whilst I’ve not seen anything too terrible, please don’t fall into posting any “lol salty sony pony” fanboy rhetoric here. It’s a huge industry moment, and yes, emotions may be running high. Just remember, it’s only video games, whichever “side” you’re on. Be good to each other.
This proves to me MS knows it’s only in a knife fight with Sony. They are preparing for trench warfare with Apple/Google/Amazon/Facebook. They could not let big tech get Bethesda.
This is how you start a generation where the competition is hellbent on securing timed exclusives. Thought and shared it on another site that Microsoft needed to go big every once in a while but would have never imagined that they would have pulled this off.
Doing some rough numbers.
Lets say on average zenimax games would sell 15million/year on PS5. That would be $300 million profit for Microsoft per year from PS5 sales if ms got $20 per game sale.
To put this into perspective 2.2million gamepass subs paying on average $12/month would generate $316 million revenue per year.
Having zenimax games exclusive to the xbox platform would likely draw in 5million more gamepass subscribers easily.
Profits from selling on PS5 is not that amazing in the context of things.
lmao
What a power move lol. I guess MS was tired of Sony trying to moneyhat every big game on the world, while this will suck for PS gamers eventually, because I’m sure that the next Elder scrolls, Fallout and Starfield won’t be making it there now at the same time it’s better than what Sony would’ve tried to do because with Xbox at least it will release on PC as well. Now I need my Halo and Doom crossover, make it happen MS!
