Marvel's Blade - Announcement Trailer

I do not know Blade comics, in Europe we are not so feed by this kind of literature, but the 3 Blade movies were quite excellent and different in their own ways.

If the 1st movie is cheap, it has also all the elements in place. The second one, from Del Toro is a magnificent mythological effort, whereas the third one is more a MCU-like movie (before its time). I wonder what will be the atmosphere of the game.

Wesley Snipe will probably be the de facto Blade for years.

The game will anyway probably try to be connected to the forthcoming MCU movie.

The game will be exclusive but as someone post it, the discussion about exclusivity is already polluting the game discussion itself. And if you think it is bad, it would even worse if the game was already definitely announced as exclusive.

I looooooved The Darkness 1 and 2, man, so awesome.

Blade has tons of potential and in Arkane Lyon I trust. This announcement has made me decide to finally watch the movies. Of all Marvel movies I still haven’t seem them.

It is interesting to know that Arkhane is shifting to 3rd person. We have no news from Indiana Jones, I am not even sure it is 1st or 3rd person, but a Character-centered IP would be much more suited to 3rd person and also more impactful to the casual public.

No. Marvel probably asked around and listened to pitches. Ubisofts pitch is we want open world boring game so they got rejected. If we assume marvel looked arouns for studios. I suspect Arkane lyon told bethesda and microsoft to get them that IP.

Not when ps biased media exists no

Ill be honest. I wouldnt even bother with blade if it was 1st person. Indie too.

Any game that doesnt center around shooting shouldnt be first person unless its a slow ass rpg like a skyrim or cyberpunk which is mostly a shooter anyway. I get ill playing games like mirrors edge and ghost runner. Good thing arkane have some sense. Hopefully machine games do too

Many games make sense in 1st person. real life is 1st person, so there is clearly a sense of realism in 1st person.

The reason some AAA games are 3rd person is because the casual market is easier to identify with a 3rd person character and most AAA games are narrative-driven with some gameplay involved.

I would say that games where you are the hero should be 1st person, whereas games where you play some defined hero (Geralt de Rives, Blade, Indy, etc) should be 3rd person.

You can look at that both ways. But this is the Xbox tax in evidence. Sony announce this game with no platforms and everyone assumes it’s exclusive and celebrate it. Sony announce it as an exclusive and everyone celebrates it.

Xbox do it - exclusivity question mark FUD builds. Had Xbox announced it as an exclusive we know the criticism would have come.

It doesn’t have to be a level playing field. Nobody has a duty to cover things fairly. They can do what they like. But let’s not pretend it is a level playing field.

Now come on. Third person and janky cameras aren’t some panacea. I’d vastly prefer games in first person because they just feel more natural and more immersive. Third person is just awkward at times. Depends on the game. But there is absolutely a place for both.

Be sure to watch tomorrow/later today!

I liked they went for 3rd person and I think it makes sense. I imagine a Blade videogame being full of frantic action so it may be harder to recreate in 1st person, barring something like Doom Eternal.

The whole exclusivity thing is bollocks, its just an angle the cretinous mass can use. If it was announced as xbox exclusive then thats the angle they would have used and what they would be holding conversations about, its all aimed at not talking about the actual game, its merits, opportunities, future etc. Thats whats tiring, not bellends on twitter talking about exclusivity.

I love the vibe of the trailer, given how Deathloop was, Arkane Lyon are going to make this drip with style.

Blade MCU is 2025, so we should expect some news there.

I wonder who will get Fantastic Four licence. I do not think ThunderBolts is worth fighting for. There is also a Deadpool movie coming, maybe we will get a new High Moon Studios game as well.

F4 is a great comic property, but it will lead probably to a GAAS team-based game if executed. Same for Thunderbolt.

In fact, with Marvel pushing for team-based movies (in order to replicate the Avengers success), Blade is probably the licence to catch.

If I were Disney I would do some maths.

Non exclusive flops : avengers, GOTG (yes, the game is great).

Exclusive success : Spiderman Insomniac games.

Also The last Spider Man sold much more than the multi platform Spiderman of before.

Disney is wise to bet on exclusivity and let the fanboys do the marketing campaign.

Those successes and failures aren’t really anything anything to do with exclusivity, Insomniacs Spiderman was just a really good game and people like Spiderman. If anything it would have just been more successful if it were multiplatform.

I am not saying it is related, just that high salary suits in megacorp make such Excel relations. Sorry not to be more clear.

Still Ii think that exclusivity give more visibility to games. Remember Phil Spencer telling that Bethesda has to learn to be 1st party, what it brings in terms of visibility and responsability.

I hadn’t thought of this angle but it makes some sense. Take some time to let people assume what they will about platforms, and hype the game based on its own assumed merits. We’ve seen exclusivity poison the discussion in the case of Starfield so try it the other way and see what happens.

I suspect Xbox will have a direct in early 2024 maybe January and what will be shown will put to rest all the third-party craze nonsense going around. It would be a better show to clarify things. The blade thing will certainly drive traffic there.

Blade may not be as successful an Ip as Spiderman but, with this being the first true Blade game, it has the potential to be just as big as Spiderman in the future with multiple releases (just like Insomniac). Microsoft should 1000% keep this title as an exclusive if they haven’t already. It shows so much confidence and stability in the brand. It also shows that Xbox is here to stay and will provide ample competition in the gaming space.

This is what I’ve been waiting to see from Microsoft: go toe-to-toe with Sony in the game space. Not in attempting to create “Sony-esque” games but, keep the same integrity with banger after banger!
