Marvel's Blade - Announcement Trailer

I dunno about first blade game we cannot forget the amazing blade 2 https://youtu.be/B7WxfsSFk_Q?si=z2kqxeYRxzRJ_N-t renting this at a local shop getting very upset at wasting a weekend

But I am hyped as well to see Xbox really bringing it, they haven’t been like this since original Xbox/ start of 360

Blade will sleep cooking for a while. I do not expect it in any direct in 24.

yeah the tweet and the video literally say now in development so don’t expect it till 2026/2027 at the earliest and won’t be surprised if it cross gen

Deathloop was out in 2021 on ps5, two years up to now. Late 2025 could be possible depending how dev goes on.

All kinda depends on how much we read into their comments on where the game is in the development cycle.

They said they just begun development

I hope this game turns out to be splashy with its combat. I wanna feel like a badass playing this game.

A lot of style please Arkane!

If this is an indication of Xbox being more open to third party popular IP’s? Which popular IP’s would you guys want Xbox/Bethesda/ABK studios to do? Personality want a Star Wars old/republic game from Obsidian and Deadpool by Ninja Theory.

I wonder how far away the game really could be. I’m hoping it’s not as late as next gen. I doubt Arkane and Xbox would announce it if it were that far off. Then again, there was something about the character existing for 50 years now? Announcing it does make more sense then.

somewhat out of left field, but Tango making a Jujutsu Kaisen video game

Xbox isn’t “more open” now because they weren’t against it in the first place, they are just going with what the studios actually want and pitch like they’ve always been saying.

Feels like this is all pretty similar to Indiana Jones development - there was a couple years from their prior games release but despite the percieved gap in their schedule they were both seemingly pretty early in development.

Either way, we’ve not seen IJ yet and I’m guessing it’ll be a while before we see Blade. New IPs (or making a whole new concept in an established IP) just take time, plus whatever time they spent prototyping concepts and upgrading their tech.

They have stated that they like to work on their own IP’s and have said no to Disney before. But yeah, good point on allowing studios creative freedom.

It’ll be 3 years from IJ announcement until we (presumably) see it, maybe 4 til release (assuming 2025). Same time line would put this game at 2027 (so almost next gen, at which point might as well hold it).

To be honest they said no to Disney back when they didn’t have nearly enough studios, and back then the Xbox team didn’t have much funding either.

Yeah it woulda meant a studio like 343 or The Coalition dropping their IPs to work on a licensed title, and this was back when there wasn’t the same perception of how good licensed titles can be.

The artstyle is fantastic. There’s a very subtle layer of Ben Day dots on everything that I didn’t pick up on until I watched the trailer again.

I just watched the first movie for the first time, very nice.

One thing is for sure, late 90s Marvel was a different beast than modern Marvel movies. Plenty of profanity, blood, gore, wow.

Now I plan to check the comics. Where t start?

Never read the comics, so can’t help you there. But I definitely recommend checking out the second movie too. Guillermo del Toro, good stuff.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the third movie, but lots of people detest it, so YMMV. If you do watch it, know it is different in tone than the first two. More similar to today’s MCU than the previous movies.

Good to know!

It’s a bit of a shame. The tone is perfect in the first one, for the kind of thing it is, it shouldn’t be too tame. I am hoping the new movie won’t be, hell, I hope the game won’t be but it’s Arkane from Dishonored. I probably should not be afraid for that, haha.

The only movie that is similar to Blade that has the profanity, blood and gore is Deadpool. I would not mind more mature Marvel movies.
