Check out some of the superhero cartoons of the 90s. It’s not Marvel, but Batman the animated series is one of the greatest shows of all time. Then Justice League show was amazing and same with Superman: TAS. On Marvel side the spiderman show of the 90s was pretty cool because you’ll see many Marvel cameos, and the x-men show was iconic.
Oh, it’s still rated R. It’s just campier, and Ryan Reynolds is being Ryan Reynolds. He had not yet come into his full Ryan Reynolds powers, but you can see them percolating.
It also didn’t help that apparently the production was a shit-show according to pretty much everyone, including David S. Goyer, the writer/director. So perhaps unsurprisingly the end result is a bit of a mess.
Here’s a quote from Goyer:
I don’t think anyone involved in that film had a good experience on that film, certainly I didn’t. I don’t think anybody involved with that film is happy with the results. It was a very tortured production.
I think WB’s new line making the film and Kevin Feige not being the producer of the film helped (he has been the producer of every marvel film from 2000 and onwards).
Damn, I didn’t realize engagement for this game is doing that well. 3M views on Marvel’s YouTUbe page and 225k on Bethesda page. Plus it’s trending
In real life my vision is complete 360 with absolute maximum vision. Not a box with horrible camera and janky movement. You saying it makes sense doesnt mske sense when 90 percent of non shooters arent first person. In that case why dont we make fighting games in first person.
Sorry your reasoning for 3rd person is flawed. So why not make a devil may cry game 1st person or super mario? ? Ill tell you because gameplay design wise it would be shit. First person games will automatically have limited gsmeplay design unless its a shooter.
True I do wonder though maybe a new kind of first person could be done. When you look at first person in real life it looks and feels different from that seen in games and let’s not forget third person looked different until Gears came up with the new format everyone’s embarked on.
Whistler approves of this game just in case anyone was wondering.
Agreed I was just thinking they could funnel this hype into having a big direct maybe something even bigger coming from the mishaps of the Game Awards. They could for example shed more light on the Sega partnership and a few games we haven’t heard of in a while like contraband. I just think they could use all this as a path to turbo things and gain traction again.
The 90s were just amazing with cartoons. Batman TAS was easily my favorite. The cartoons of today just aren’t the same at all. It was the golden era for that, and many things really.
Tomorrow I shall watch 3. Watched 1 and 2 today, really like Blade 2 too and those few twists in the story were cool.
I can absolutely now see why Mahershala is cast for the new Blade, he can definitely pull that off. And now after having seen the first two movies, I can see the potential of this game for damn sure.
I am excited when studios get out from their comfort zone and push themselves to do something completely new. Hope they shatter expectations with this game!
Shooters are not the only thing that work in first person. Immersive sims can have minimal shooting but are in first person because they get close and intimate with the environment and interact with it physically, that’s much more doable in first person. Some types of puzzle games also work better in fp because of that. It’s not about realism or immersion, it’s what type of interaction the game wants to have with the environment, and also what type of storytelling. Third person is better for stuff like melee, stealth, cinematic storytelling.
VR also work in 1st person better.
You understood wrongly, I did not mean that all games should be 1st person, but in the limited range of where the question arises, typically shooters, 1st person is more suited when the hero is muted and unknown (FPS like Prey or Skyrim) whereas games where the identity of the hero is a selling point then 3d person POV can be good.
CDPR made the right call between Witcher (3rd person) and Cyberpunk (1st person).
Racing games is also a type of games where I am always surprised to see people playing in 3rd person POV.
Agreed. Maybe if I were to play on a smaller screen or sit far away I’d want to see the car, but I don’t so generally I play racing games in 1st person. Preferably the view where I see that I’m inside the car and not just the hood or the street.
I will say I find it easier to perform cool moves in 3rd, and if I’ve done a nice paint job or drive a particularly awesome car it’s kinda fun to see it. So if the situation calls for it I have been known to switch to 3rd, but 1st will always be my preference.
Theres a film being released in 2025 so i immediately expected this game to tie in with that, but unless its bern cooking for a year or so already thats a tight timeline for completing the game.
The movie can be delayed, it is not like making movies in Hollywood has been a safe job recently (costs, strikes, etc).
I also expect the game to try to benefit from this sinergy.
Considering Spiderman and Wolwerine are locked, this was the best opportunity for MS to also rely on a licence SP IP.
The movie was already delayed from 2023. I doubt it is aligned with the movie at all.
Didn’t the whole writing team leave and better people came in? Something fans were rather happy about. Wasn’t it the Daredevil show team?
One thing is for sure, the movie should be mature.
Considering how absolutely dire Disney are performing at the box office these days, I’d like to think they will make serious changes
