Marvel's Blade - Announcement Trailer

i barely browsed twitter in the past few days. but lemme guess Jez and that Squirrel dude are on the bandwagon aswell.

The whole exclusive or not thing happened with Starfield as well until it was finally revealed at E3 it was

Indy had no platforms and still has had no Xbox logo on anything and yet we know it’s exclusive

I don’t see MS greenlighting a Blade game without having a lot of control over it and being forced to make it multiplat and still funding it sounds like a strange use out of one of your prestige studio’s

This isn’t CoD, it’s not Minecraft, it’s a single player superhero game that Phil has been on record saying they needed their own as a way of competing against Spiderman, yes that was talking about Indy but I don’t see how that doesn’t apply to something like Blade also

Rand made a good point in Xbox Two, the FTC is trying lower the standards of requirements to get a Preliminary Injunction for any future acquisitions ( Microsoft included), and they are trying to use Microsoft “taking” away games from other platform as enough proof to get a PI granted( even though exclusives are an accepted practice in the gaming industry).

Which is so crazy to me when you look at how Sony has been operating for decades!

That’s the thing, the FTC is just taking advantage of these old judges who had no knowledge about the gaming industry. To the credit of Judge Corley, she did her research and that is why she made the right decision ( FTC can cry about it).

If that’s the case I hope the FTC treat Sony equally and review PlayStation’s past acquisitions and various ‘deals’ - but they won’t.

Yeah, I guess this is one of the reasons why MS is careful right now with Blade in terms of announcing exclusivity etc., especially when they plan to acquire more devs.

The regulators in general are pushing it a little bit to far with enforcement and I wouldn’t be surprised if they will get their leash tightened by their higher ups, but that’s another discussion not appropriate in this thread.

And I have zero doubt Xbox would want to. They want everyone on Game Pass, so something is stopping them. Otherwise for damn sure it would have said play it day one on Game Pass, the XGS logo, the Xbox logo etc.

Maybe some of you will realize that there are plenty of “Xbox fans” who are just misery merchants… it’s not Xbox’s fault those individuals have to make every non-issue INTO one. Some people have so little wrong in their lives apparently, that must be nice to have something so minor give you this level of concern :man_shrugging:

I love the artstyle. Unique but still you can say it was made by Arkane. Also bits of the soundtrack we heard are so Blade.

Just found out the game was announced to honor the anniversary. That said I get the feeling they do have one other game in store that is likely to release first. If I recall correctly, Arkane work in multiple projects in priority shift.

It was something that I wondered about. After the whole starfield exclusivity and the attacks on Bethesda Devs and people like Pete Hines they might want to avoid that for now and let the studio work in peace.

Third person!

I have a feeling I am going to need to mute a lot of “content creators” over this game for the foreseeable future. I can only handle so many bad faith takes for engagement coming across my timeline.

I love seeing Dinga’s excitement! I’ve gotta say, as someone who grew up with Blade everywhere - comics, cameos in the Spider-Man animated series, the absolutely stellar-especially-for its time Wesley Snipes films - I couldn’t be more excited for this game. To think it’s coming from Arkane Lyon to boot? Just insane.

Also, with Mahershala Ali taking on the role for the next movie, as a fan of the character, I feel like I’m reliving my teens again!

PS - I’ll plug anything Mahershala’s in - dude is an absolute masterclass of actors and he’s great in everything I’ve seen him in (even if the movie/show doesn’t always end up great… Luke Cage) - but Swan Song on AppleTV is a great start if you’re unfamiliar.

I imagine Blade like a more immersive Darkness 2 in 3rd person. Lots of gore and splatter, vampire bosses voiced by the likes of Mike Patton. Could be cool.

I mean this forum here allows longer and in depth thoughts. Maybe @Shpeshal_Nick can share them here with us?

There are merits of announcing exclusivity or not.

For a Xbox Game, long in the future, all its dev cycle could be darkened by stupid discussions and trolls.

Look Starfield, IGN and PC gamer among others have decided to hate it way before its release.

I must admit when the rumours started about this prior to the show i thought it was such an incredibly random pairing and admittedly Blade isnt too high up on my list of favourite comic book characters but after seeing the trailer and the passion from the devs i am very much interested to see what Arkane come up with. I remember when Arkane and Vampire game was first rumoured i was excited because i was expecting a single player Arkane experience…obviously that didnt happen with Redfall but from the few tidbits we’ve had, it sounds like thats going to be the case with Blade.

As for the exclusive stuff, maybe it’s my age but i couldn’t care less  it’s on Xbox and likely Gamepass so that’s all I’m fussed about about :joy: it is a shame that after last year the heat Xbox faced for no showing the award show, this year they came back hard…but for certain Xbox fans it feels they’ve glossed over that to focus on logo-gate. I actually think even if the Xbox logo was there people would just be saying “well it’s a Marvel ip, no way would Disney allow it to be exclusive” and “why didn’t they put the gamepass logo there. Xbox dont know how to market anything”.

Once it is revealed as an exclusive, i look forward to the discourse shifting to "who cares about Blade anyway. Trust xbox to get a Z-list Marvel character "

I don’t really get why there is any doubt. They can’t announce platforms because this game might be next gen for all we know. I suspect they don’t know for sure when it will hit. And there may be contractural stuff still being ironed out.

But let’s be real. Xbox are often a bit crazy but even they aren’t crazy enough to finally secure a great fit for a marvel IP and hand it out to all and sundry when their rival platform has played on marvel exclusivity for years.

It would be the height of madness and I don’t know why anyone would even entertain it.

Were this a marvel GAAS or ongoing game then sure I could see it.

But it’s exclusive. I have no doubt.
