i think i will blame Neil Druckmann on this one lol
Its not a bad thing if they want to work on it. I personally find it boring, but i m not working there and I am also not the target demographic.
But it raises so many questions, like:
The release of Tlou2 came not out of nowhere. Why is there not another project ready to work on?
that true but perhaps their next project is tlou 3 and neil still working tlou 2 i think worth to note the only one left from ND golden era is Neil Druckmann in the past they had other ND Veteran to work on concepts and ideas for next projects
Speaking of ND golden era i think Phil should contact Amy Hennig it will be great strategic move for gp like kojima deal
Like this was one franchise where Id understand never doing a sequel (even if I think the game is tad overrated) because I feel more could had gone wrong (it did) than good.
Well they’re making that factions online game as well.
So maybe, TloU remake, TloU factions and TloU 3 are in dev?
This would be kinda insane lol.
To me there is nothing more boring than games you know are coming because the company is 100% risk averse. I am seriously stoked about the new IP coming to XBox - Everwild, Avowed, Tunic(even though it’s not first party). Nothing Sony has announced is of any interest.
What retconning the original game’s ending does to a mf
I think TLOU would work better as an anthology series instead of direct sequels. Different characters in each game in a new location with maybe some loose story connections in a shared setting.
Has anyone seen this?
So David Jaffe interviewed one of the ex directors for Days Gone. Seems like Muppets at Minmaxx sort of brushed Jaffe aside and Jason sort of disrespectfully put him down despite Jaffe doing nothing against him
Sort of typical from Jason tbh. Never liked the guy. Say what you want about Jaffe now…he is a bit outspoken and crazy at times but the dude directed some incredible games in the past Deserves more respect from what looks like a bunch of unimportant game journos and Jason who thinks hes the bees knees.
Jaffe offers the unique perspective of an overly-outspoken, experienced game dev, but don’t think siding with him completely is the right take here. The Minn Maxx guys don’t have any reason to be dismissive like that, but still think Jason’s reporting is the important part of the entire story.
All the drama in the aftermath is just a gross cocktail of people not watching interviews or reading articles or understanding other people’s points of view; it’s not worth getting into.
Jason is a good reporter. Still don’t like him as a person. The Minn Maxx guys do have a reason. Not personal ones. Just that theyre very lazy and trying to be somewhat relevant.
Afterwards the ex DGer tweeted the following, which seems to give a lot of credibility to what JS said:
Honestly, Jason S. is an idiot. He very well knew how his story would be taken and now he paddles back.
Never liked the guy and this confirms my opinion about him.
Did you read the tweet ? That’s pretty much the opposite. Jeff Ross basically said that he couldn’t say much about the situation because he does not want to jeopardize his carreer, as he’s still working in the industry. Then he promptly said that Jason knows his stuff. It’s like “wink wink” : “trust him guys, he knows the truth of the story”.
What people online inferred from his rather short story is what happens every single time news like this broke, sadly.
Yeah and yikes all around tbh. I know the sorta defacto position on Schreier for most is to praise his journalism but he is best described as an ambulance chaser who writes stuff imho. He does seem to only ever try getting one side of things (instead of working to find sources from other pov’s) and makes sure to push the singular narrative he uses to sell books.
The notion that Jeff would not be worthwhile interviewing on the matter is preposterous. If Jaffe can get him on camera openly discussing what happened then Schreier can certainly get him on background as a source if asked. Schreier just didn’t seem to want views from ppl in the exact spot you’d need to be to have all the info required for the full picture. That woulda gotten in the way of spinning the kinda yarn Schreier pumps into the discourse. The fact he didn’t even bother watching the video yet accused Jeff/Jaffe of stuff they never even did and then he acts smug about it is also not a good look. If he actually cared about the full picture, he would eagerly watch the interview in hopes of learning more from a source he evidently ignored for [reasons].
That all said, Jaffe, while connected and having some insight, is an enormous asshole and that video where he spends time trying to basically bully Schreier is just the latest example. It sucks that ppl feel like they have to act that way instead of Schreier getting actual critiques with merit to challenge his work.
The fact Jeff was willing to talk from a position of first hand knowledge on camera and yet Schreier never even reached out to him for his story shows the problems with Schreier’s journalism. He is entirely one-sided and on at least one occasion that we know of seemingly cherry picked a single source out of ‘almost a dozen’ because they told him what he wanted to hear on a controversial game. Or he lied and fabricated having ‘almost a dozen’ sources after the fact. Neither speaks well for his credibility.
Note that none of this means the details in his story are suspect, since they have been corroborated by Jeff and another former dev on the team on Twitter iirc. At the same time, if Jeff says some elements were exaggerated, I trust him to know as much better than Schreier.
It’s mostly true but you shouldn’t say it outloud. (Could do without the part about mental illness)
I agree
Na kind of tired of always tip toeing around the issue and trying to play coy about it. I’m going to call it like I see it, it will only get better if the issue comes to light and is fully acknowledged.
I’ve been a gamer since 1977, I’ve seen many game companies come and go, the Coleco Vision used to be my all time favorite console.
My gaming interest/hobby survived the crash of 83, I was a huge gamer decades before Sony entered the gaming industry and in all my years I’ve never seen a fanbase full of such nut jobs that have an obsessive relationship with a console vendor like Sony fans do.
I can’t imagine how they would deal with 7 years of getting shit on like Xbox fans, or getting pushed out of the hardware industry like Sega fans or seeing nearly the entire industry collapse like I did being a Coleco vision fanboy back in 83. They would freaking go insane as they can’t even handle the media not treating them with kid gloves for a couple of weeks.
They are simply too close and too obsessive with their interest in Sony and it’s not healthy and really fucks up the gaming community with their bullshit.
Sony fans should not get special treatment and consideration just cause they flip their shit all the time and can’t handle valid criticism against their platform. They need to learn to toughen up and deal with it and even help Sony make things better by actually calling Sony out on their anti consumer bullshit instead of rolling over and taking it like a simp.
The entire gaming world and community would be much better if Sony fans and the media actually held Sony accountable for their bullshit. Instead they fold like lawn chairs and just accept whatever crap Sony pulls on customers and gaming as a whole.
Please keep discussion civil and don’t attack groups of people for any reason.
