Is Microsoft (Xbox) done with acquisitions for 2020?

Sperasoft is already helping 343i

Rumors are many studios are helping with support including Turn 10. It needs a lot of support as the scope is seemingly huge. Who better to come in at the 23rd hour to support a spiritual reboot than Bungie?

Bungie would be a true wtf-moment.

I think it’s a must for Microsoft to open their wallet to Bungie to bring them back as first party.

Yeah, we’ve had more titles this year than the last two combined… and in case it needs to be repeated, and why I give Microsoft, Sony and everyone else a pass on this shitty year, there’s a global pandemic that has shut down industries, economies, and completely altered how things like game development can even occur.

But for what though? They’re just going to go full on with Destiny and they already have it on Game Pass. The only way Bungie would be worth it is if they branched off and made new IP’s and that’s unlikely to happen.

Bungie is hiring for a new IP, actually, and Destiny makes a ton of money.

Microsoft already owns part of Bungie so they’re going to get money regardless except if they own them they have to bankroll their projects and games. They already have Destiny 2 and all future expansions on Game Pass. i can’t think of a single thing MS has to gain by buying Bungie

I fucking love Destiny, but since that will Bungie’s big focus going forward (and they’re not gonna pull it from other platforms), I don’t think that’s a great fit.

So the WB deal is still in play?

Well, Destiny could work like Minecraft and then the next IP is exclusive… Should work just fine. I don’t think it will happen, but you never know.

For my understanding, Bungie wants to be independent at all cost.

Says that Saber purchased 4A for roughly 45 million dollars. That really just shows that these studios that are AAA developers aren’t as expensive as we thought. Of course 4A, while a good studio aren’t really on the same level as Respawn which EA paid over 300 million for

But it does show that MS could purchase AAA developers and build them up. Asobo should be at the top of their list but I’d want them to at least get IO interactive, People can fly or Techland, at least 1-2 more bigger AAA studios and maybe 2-4 AA developers that can grow over time would really help bolster Game Pass

But FFS stay away from WB if it ever does go on sale.

Yeah, hence why I don’t think it will happen.

Studios are really only valued if they have IP or tech. You cant own talented developers they can just walk away. That’s why a studio like 4a games as amazing as metro is went for so cheap. I dont even think they own the metro IP

Microsoft made a big ass mistake letting Respawn slip away.

Whole heartedly agree with this. Not only are they super talented but look how many games they have released this gen. The studio would have been perfect for Gamepass.

This is true, this is why Rare was so valuable. Sony bought Insomniac for 230 million although the only IP’s they owned were Fuse and Sunset Overdrive.

Still 49 million isn’t bad for 4A.

Insomniac has alot of proprietary tech that Sony now owns that’s why they paid so much

From what I understand, everyone has a price. lol
