I really hope Persona rumors for Xbox and other platforms are true

I care less about attention and more about diversity for Xbox and availability for more people to play these games. Hopefully, Xbox users actually walk the talk and play/buy the games.

It is pure speculation on my part, but the Stadia ports are giving me genuine hope. Take a look at the Stadia library and you’ll see that next to none of the games are on Stadia and not Xbox. And the ones that do fit that criteria (which is an extremely low number. Only ~5-8 games) are either extremely obscure indies, or are games that are known for being PC exclusive (Baldur’s Gate 3, which will probably come to Xbox anyway considering the previous ones did, Orcs Must Die 3, which is a Stadia exclusive, weirdly enough, but it was confirmed for PC later anyway)

Previously, I would say Octopath was a decently major thing that Stadia had, and Xbox didn’t, and that one seemed even less likely than the chance of Ys/Trails, considering it was thought that Nintendo owned console exclusivity, and that the game wasn’t on the much more likely PlayStation. But then suddenly, Xbox port outta nowhere.

The Stadia (and Amazon Luna) ports of these games lead me to believe that NISA is willing to take on a new platform, given a proper deal/partnership is struck (which is where Game Pass will come into play for Xbox). There is of course, the high probability that these games will be PC Game Pass only, like NISA’s Disgaea 4 (not on Stadia btw, so there was never any precedent that they were gonna put in extra work for a new port anyway). But hey, even that would be an accomplishment for JP content on Game Pass.

And as for Trails in the Sky, the odds of console ports are basically 0%. Not even PS4 or Switch have them lol. This is because Xseed has the publishing rights to all Trails games before Cold Steel 3. Luckily they are so old that any PC built within the last 15 years should handle em.

As opposed to people on stadia? Which they have to pay for full price per game?

Let’s be real dude. NIS are putting the game on stadia because Google are paying them a shit ton.

On xbox there’s an incentive to tap into gamepass market as well as sell more copies in general

Also these games don’t sell well period. Even on playststion. They’re very niche

If these games came to Gamepass
more people on xbox would be playing than they did on playstation. Outside of Japan that is

And these are old games. Maybe if they came to xbox as they do on other platforms around the same time more people would play them.

I think you might be missing the point or I’m not communicating it clearly so I’ll just leave it with this: I hope as many people can play any game that releases as possible, on any platform.

Yeah thats fine. I understand. I’m referring to your comment about Xbox players walking the talk. I’m an Xbox gamer. It’s my primary platform. But I have to play these other games I want on other platforms because they aren’t on xbox.

Putting them on xbox years later then saying oh xbxo players don’t buy these so what’s the point in putting then on there is incredibly unfair.

Well, I saw the opinion that for some reason PC players should be grateful to Sony that Heavy Rain came to PC so

I disagree that it’s unfair, but it’s ok to disagree. People just tend to talk a lot, how they want this, that, or the other and then don’t actually follow up by supporting those things. Most people aren’t blessed or invested as we are to be multi-console owners I’d imagine, at least PS/Xbox as they’re quite similar platforms. I hear you, I get it, all’s good friend.

One thing I’ve always wondered, which almost certainly speaks to my ignorance of development, is can Microsoft just do the work of or at least finance porting games to the platform? Just eat that cost or dedicate the manpower and then the game has a chance to do sales in an untapped market. I can see some flaws obviously, like “dumping a sack of money doesn’t mean they’ll want to dedicate the resources” or “the devs have more famiiarity with the game and engine so a stand-in team wouldn’t do as good a job.”

Edit: I’m enjoying this back-and-forth by the way, props for being civil!

I hear this argument so often since the Bethesda’s purchase and of course 90% from Playstation side. What I can say then? Welcome to the club, where you could not play all the games.

One of the most hilarious takes there is that before nobody complained that a lot of games were not available to PC even, but now for some reason games should be everywhere! because Playstation owners started to feel threatened.

Some of these are through those financing efforts. The financing is for bringing the game to Xbox, porting and in some cases even English voice acting. Yakuza has reaped the benefits of this. This allows devs to experience the power of larger numbers playing through Gamepass. The largest beneficiary so far seems to have been Sega.

Ultimately it is a matter of trust. Some devs like to frolic with the financing like Platinum. That is why you see Xbox trusting Square or Sega or Bandai more than Platinum.

I wish everyone had the means to play every game. It’s part of why the rumors of PlayStation shuttering some of its legacy stores makes me sad. Games should be preserved, played, and celebrated by anyone who wants to. I know that’s fantasyland stuff, but I really just love gaming and hate the console war stuff.

Anyway, Persona, Trails, Suikoden (LOVE this series), etc. in particular as franchise that should be played by more people, or would greatly benefit by greater availability.

This happened a lot in the ps3 gen. Only fanboys got pissed that final fantasy tekken devil may cry and every other 3rd party multiplat was on xbox too.

I’ve said this before and I stand by it. Playstation has an incredibly toxic fanbase on places like Twitter and its stemmed by this blind loyal following from the ps1 and ps2 era. Ps4 even further cemented that

They can’t comprehend games not being on a Playstation. Even though pc xbox and Nintendo gamers have been forced to buy a ps console for many many games over the last 2 decades and were not talking 1st party games. 3rd party ones.

Now that some users have to buy a gaming PC or an Xbox its just constant whining and reassurance.

My favourite is “ms wanna make as much money so it makes sense to put it on playstation” lol

Those people that talk usually buy the games and products. You’ve got zero evidence people don’t support them.

To those who aren’t multi console owners
yeah it sucks. But guess what. Deal with it. Or get another console.

Its not a blessing. It’s just narrow minded loyalists. Sure there hasn’t been a reason for ps owners to buy an xbox or pc. But I’d you wanna play nintendo games you have to buy a switch. Ms are trying to do thr same thing. Only ms have 2 platforms not one.

Anyone who can afford a ps5 and 70 dollar games for 5 years can afford an Xbox and gsmepass. I don’t buy that affordability argument at all

Uh, ok. This reads as someone who’s incredibly entitled, aggressive, and dismissive, particularly the last portion, which I’m sure isn’t your intent. I still think you’re not quite understanding what I’m trying to get across so I suppose I’m failing in my attempts to communicate at this point. To say there’s no evidence
well, look at the numbers.

I’m going to leave it here, you seem a bit agitated on this topic and views that don’t line up with yours. I don’t mean to fight or argue with you or anyone else about video games, thanks for the discussion though.

Plus NIS said before they would support Xbox if Ms removed some of the restrictions like the minimum print amount (which they did).

Lol Microsoft managed to have a Virtual Youtuber (anime character as a youtuber, extremely popular in Japan, just in case you didn’t know) sponsor Game Pass.

It’s a stream solely intended for a Japanese audience (considering there’s no english lol), wonder if this is a sign of things to come? I don’t believe they’ve ever had Japanese online influencers sponsor game pass before?

We do have NISA publishing R-Type Final 2 on Xbox, they could have went digital only like a lot of JP Xbox games do, but they’re giving it first class treatment and having a physical release, just like the other 2 consoles. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LRTZ6Q4/

I’m tempted to pick this up just for the novelty of having an Xbox case with NISA’s logo on it. I believe this is their first Xbox published game. Hopefully, it will be the first of many.

Edit: It’s actually their second, with last year’s La Mulana 1+2 being the first. So they’ve now published 2 Xbox games and 1 PC MS store game (Disgaea 4).

lol that’s wild.

If Persona doesn’t come to Xbox next month, we all break into @Shpeshal_Nick house and smash his amiibo’s, right?
