Hi-Fi RUSH |OT| The Evil Ry-thm

Completed the first level, took a little while to get used to not just spamming x or y but im getting there, incredibly fun and so smooth and polished

After TEW2 not doing so hot commercially and Ghostwire not hitting as well as you’d want, Tango really needed a win and damn did they get one

Shows just how much range and talent there is at that studio

I finally beat the game today. This is probably my favorite game this gen outside of Halo Infinite. What a game.

Doing my second playthrough, this game has a a lot of secret rooms that aren’t accessable the first time around, wont say what’s in them. They also have amusing ways of addressing one particular moment where I easily defeated a new enemy I was meant to lose to in order to give me a new power up. This is definitely up there with some of the best games I’ve played in the last decade. Much like the first No More Heroes was the closest a game got to feeling like “Kill Bill” IMO, Hi Fi Rush feels very much to me like the videogame equivalent of FLCL.

Usually game scores go down once reviews start hitting. Hi-Fi Rush is doing the opposite so far. Lets see how IGN and Gamespot scores it.

Just finished the game, holy crap that was good!

When a game leaves you with such a feel good sense of enjoyment you know it’s a unique title. You can feel the passion behind the project on every level… incredible!

i cant seem to get any better than 50% on the timing. A fight will feel like it’s going well and I’m getting the timing right, and then I see that 50% and get discouraged. Hopefully I’ll get better as the game goes on. I just finished the second level and fought Rekka, so there’s plenty of game left.

Almost at the end. That ‘The Joy Formidable’ song that comes on is some peak gaming.

This is easily my 2nd favorite XGS’s game after FH5 of this gen.

100% agree, absolute perfection. It’s just so uplifting it’s unreal.

Has anyone completed all the spectra doors yet? I just completed door 3 on my second playthrough which was a nightmare (parry counter only). Just wondering if the later doors get harder (somehow?)

Just completed Rekka, and I’m struggling BIG TIME with this game. I cannot figure out how to get the combos in between the beats, and the timing of things feels so random even though it shouldn’t be!

I died twice or three times per phase on Rekka, as the health just vanishes while fighting her. The electricity thing was impssible to avoid.

I’m either crap generally at the game, there’s something up with the latency, or more likely I’ve misunderstood how to play the game. Like, I bash X-X-X- to hit a guy, and it doesn’t do anything on the next beat, but then after a few moments the red ring thing appears, but by that point i’ve already hit an X or a Y and fail it out. What causes the red ring to appear, and what does it do?

It sounds to me that your perhaps mashing too quickly?

Have you got the tool enabled with the view button? It may help initially.

Time your attacks to them hitting the enemies. So press X or Y at the time the guitar hits, it’s not the best possible way to do it but it’s working out for me. The red ring appears after you finish a combo in the combo list.

For the electricity, I think there’s grappling points in the fight that we can use, as I saw it on the footage shown off. I just never did it myself.
