Iām actually glad Cortana looks the way she does because this is the Silver Timeline and it needs to have its own visual identity. If things start looking too much like the games then people will be less accepting of a diverging story.
I have a feeling we saw the young Master Chief in those clips. Maybe weāll get consistent flashbacks.
When it comes to good TV Iāve realized that having good showrunners is a huge part of it.
Two writers from Star Trek, Ronald D Moore and Naren Shankar, both went on to create two of the best sci-fi shows ever, the BSG remake and The Expanse. I personally wish they went someone with a high pedigree. Instead It sounds like this project had staff that turned over and they settled on someone who has never done sci-fi before. Which could be okay still but for me itās a cause of concern.
And I agree with the special effects, but it is what it is.
I personally wish the show was entirely CG done by Blur. But Iām guessing the cost of that would have been high.

Kind of hard to film a blue-tint person on a blue-screen special effect stageā¦ Theyād likely turn out invisible?
And I have no idea how they do it in Avatar, unless the color is all done in post-processing which means insane budget for special effects processing.
They rarely use show themes in first big trailers, I wouldnāt be surprised if they were still finalizing music.
Iāll just throw this out there, but this show isnāt really meant for fans of the game. Iām sure thereās plenty of stuff in there to appease fans, but the target audience for this show is probably non-gamers. Like most adaptations, I fully expect the writers to impose their own brand of silliness onto the universe as they do with pretty much everything else and I fully expect hardcore fans to hate the shit out of it.

I attempted a little fix.
Not perfect for sure. I donāt have access to after-effects at the moment so recolouring Cortana was laughably crude, and as a reality of the lack of 5.1 audio, I couldnāt fully remove the remixed Phil Collins so I tried to drown it out.

Looks amazing, and I do understand the gripe about how Cortana looks. Other than that I feel this looks like it can be awesome, and I kinda hope this has a Mandolorian type of feel
Also I was bored while watching TV and did a very quick touch up of how they couldāve tackled Cortana. Didnāt spend much time with it of course
looks pretty good, but lacked the musical identity in the trailer which is a miss, but as some have mentioned, maybe future trailers or the show itself will do that better.
Cortana looks weird.
Chiefās voice is something I gotta get used to, I hear a more breathy Mando lol.
Btw people really out here comparing production of this show vs Mando? Mando was in a separate plane of existence. Plus itās literally Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic who was handling the production. Like, do I even have to say anything more? lol
For one, it had strong direction and leadership from Favreau and Filoni from the concept to execution.Takes the ideas of āLone Wolf and Cubā, Space Western" and applies them strongly and consistently across everything - structure, pacing, dialogue, production design, music, characterization. Thatās why it looked, sounded and felt so right.
Halo tv show on the other hand has had an extremely turbulent run with its creative direction and leadership. I hear the showrunners are basically leaving after the first season?
Secondly, Mandalorian literally pioneered several new virtual production techniques that are gonna be followed by them and other studios for years to come. Like I get wanting that kind of production quality with this, but yeah, it just doesnāt. Iām fine with the production side of it, but yeah hope they get the characters and writing right, and the music of course.
The Expanse started as a SyFy show and looked average Syfy quality production wise, but the writing and everything else made up for it by a mile. Hoping the same from this show.
Also, interesting how the Covenant adopted human lady looks like a young Reverend Mother Bene Gesserit from Dune. 
But yeah, both could rightly have a common inspiration from Islam.

daaaamn, this is good! Music is so integral to identity, simple as that. No idea why the trailer went with such a boring cover of an old ass song.
There are a few sections where the music could be more bombastic and swell and mellow down accordingly, but of course this was a quick do-over but you got the feel down which is more important, and with actual production =I can imagine it all. Good job! Like the Cortana fix as well, not too aggressive, but still more cohesive.

I think that thereās a key thing to remember - this is live action, so a floaty see through blue lady probably didnāt gel with the aesthetics. Itās hard to match with the pallette of the world. It was always going to be tough to try and take the Halo world and turn it into real life without it looking like a cosplay fan film, and I think that theyāve succeeded in getting it to feel real which is no mean feat.
I think those on Twitter comparing Cortanaās look to Sonicās original film look are just looking for things to complain about - Iām excited to see how it goes in motion, for real, in context.
I suffered through the first 2 episodes of The Foundation series which had very high budget. It doesnāt matter, in the end, you mainly need good writing and good acting.
Halo series looks at least decent and better than everything weāve got until now (Fall of Reach and Forward Unto Dawn were okay). Iāll be happy with 2 seasons.

Cortana sounds fine, she should be blue though. And why didnāt they just make a CGI Cortana?
And Chief, the voice actor isnāt in the role for it? A damn shame really. Why not? A huge bummer in my opinion because come on man, the voice actor from the games IS Chief, we immediately recognise it.
CGI is a lot more time consuming and expensive than just using an actor. Blue (or OG purple) wouldnāt have been too expensive, so not sure why they didnāt go that route. Itās odd.
Steve Downes turns 72 this year. Who knows how many more years heās got left? That might have something to do with it. Plus, as people age you start hearing it in their voice. If this show gets several seasons, they (or us) wouldnāt really want a geriatric-sounding Master Chief.
Maybe the long-term plan/hope is for Pablo Schreiber to take over all Master Chief voicing duties when they no longer can or want to use Steve Downesā¦ Would make sense to introduce a new voice in a non-main property like this.

Damn. I understand that, but itās still unfortunate. And what about future expansions of Infinite that will for sure contain new cutscenes too?
One thing I am not sure about is what looks to be the villain, sorry but my first impression is it looks cringe. I would have loved something similar to Didact as the villain.
But this is just my first thought, can only properly judge after seeing it in full.
People need to start to realise this, they could be building this new chief guy (donāt know his name sorry) as a replacement maybe just in case. Steve will always be master chief to me, but Iām not some weirdo gatekeeper that wonāt accept anyone else to voice him or play as him, especially if something (touch wood nothing does) happened to Steve.
I honestly have no problem with either Cortana or Chief but Iām also someone who doesnāt lose their shit over small stuff like the colour of Cortana.

Maybe I am just still on the high of my Cincinnati Bengals making the Super Bowl again after 33 years, but I actually think this looks cool and am excited to check it out in March!

Much like Witcher I feel this show will be more for non-fans of the games and books, than for the hardcores

I knew if there was anything remotely not like the game some people would moan, some people who love tv shows and movies can be obnoxious, add in some of the Halo fans into that mix. 
Iām not fussy at all, I get being a bit upset it might not be exactly how someone thought it would be but saying shit like they should cancel the show or like you said not my chief is just cringe.
Iām just gonna enjoy watching the show and not pay attention to the noise.
