Attack on Titan always had the same writer with the same plan.

I didn’t say 343 lore bullshit was bad, but most Bungie-era EU/Lore stuff I experienced didn’t hint at nay this…

That I can remember.

It’s been a few years since I did a Bungie-ERA Halo lore run.

yea we need a roadmap which we should get when 343i is back in the office after the holidays

Bungie’s campaign team constantly refusing to plan ahead in conjunction with the greater Halo narrative team within the studio and in Xbox itself far predates 343 existing. 343 lore’s team being made up of many Bungie people who wanted to keep pushing their narrative from the books and games is a thing too. When you call something “bullshit” it means you think it’s bad, when you constantly talk about it in a negative fashion how else would one take it? The words you use to describe something matter, and you can’t suddenly turn around and pretend their meaning doesn’t match your clear intent.

I know, I was just referencing some level of scope creep, how the first season was just “humans within walls, bad monsters coming from outside it” and then it became this huge elaborate thing, something most people felt started happening starting with Halo 4 as well (in the games, not referring to books).

Once you go back though you see those seeds were planted right at the start, he had a greater narrative in mind the entire time. Always having a grand scope vs. winging it Lost style are two very different things. Halo’s lore has had huge plans behind it since the start, no matter how hard Bungie leadership tried to fight it for the first few games themselves.

I use bullshit as a short hand for a lot of stuff including stuff like Nomuera’s insantity on Kingdom Hearts, explaining deeper MCU stuff to non fans and other stuff.

To me bullshit just means “deep lore/story stuff that doesn’t really matter all that much in the long run but I love it anyways”

yea didnt help that reach fucked up the lore a bit and 343i had to fix it when they took over

yeah, it seemed simple at the start, but as you said, the seeds for grander narrative were already being sown. But I will definitely say S2 Part 2 and S3 radically accelerated pacing of the narrative, almost to a fault, maybe due to just how long Wit was taking and had to find ways to cram as much insane revelations into fewer episodes as possible.

Yeah don’t judge that story at all by the anime, the manga is far more meaty and comprehensive. Much like Halo’s extended universe vs. what we get in the Bungie games.

It doesn’t really matter to me at all because Halo is my favorite sci-fi universe and I love everything about it, even some of the really really silly stuff that makes you scratch your head.

Halo Lore > Mass Effect lore.

Got you. So you’re the Attack of Titan manga guy. Just ensure you weren’t one of them going around spoiling shit for everyone back during S4 part 1 airing. :joy: :pensive:

I could spoil the rest of it if you wanted, but we’re getting off-topic

I read the AOT manga, didn’t think there was much different tbh. Most things were litterally 1:1, and the ending sucked. I hope they actually change it for the anime lol

brb googling “how to ban a mod”

@Doncabesa Is this the general Halo lore thread or is this just for campaign?

Because I think there’s a lot to discuss about future lore stuff that relates to campaign, but some of it might be considered off topic since it all speculative.

Future lore is spoiler territory for a while, so this would be the thread.

Can do!

Man I hope Halo The Endless isn’t a book.

PLEASE don’t let it be a book.

the next book is the rubicon protocol, and they normally announce those and don’t immediately get a copyright on it.
